Secure Print nothing is sent to the print

Accounting has the purpose to track activity on a device. Up to a point it can be used, somehow as an authentication form, because without the accounting credentials the job would not print, because it would not be associated to an account. That said , this does not replace authentication features on a device. This is a different topic.

Secure print will allow the user to protect the release of a job independent to whom thejob is beibg associated and tracked against (accounting), or who is authenticated at the device, if applicable (authentication).

In your case, prompt at the device would only do that at the device a set of credentials should be provided to account the job against. This could well be you colleague id, if you would know it.. Than secure print cones in place prootecting the job itself.

Secure print and accounting are entirely different things. A secure job could be released by anybody as long as they have the supplied code. So in the case of both being used at the same time, It makes it to the printer because authentication passed, but the it can be released only by the person with the code to release it from the secure job area.

finally its working , what i was doing wrong was logging in at the printer user my id then go to  job  status instead of of just going pressing it on the printer then input my secure code to release it .

another question though , if i have auxiliary accounting interface and when printing i have the option entering it at the device!! like the picture below why is that not working??? instead of each time going the long way accessing the printer properties first then select secure jobs????

its giving me job failed

Try eliminating the driver and software by printing through the webui.

Just import any pdf on the "print" tab and change the Job type to "secure print" and give us the results.

I haven't test it yet. It could be something like the drive that needs to be configured previously, not at application layer (within MSWord or any other). This mean you would have to configure the job type (secureprint) at the driver properties Printing Defaults. (If you are using a shared driver than this will apply to all using the same driver).

Nevertheless, based on you screenshots, can you please change the option on CWIS (2nd screenshot) Release Policies to "Prompt for Passcode Before Releasing Jobs".

This because you mentioned you use accounting and if you using authentication in conjuntion, than you would need to do that first before release the job. If you certain that no authentication is being used please feedback and ignore my tip :)

yes i did even that does nt work , mind you i have standard accounting on aswell

Hello,

I am trying to use secure print so i can print a document and release it at the printer, on the properties i do get this option like the picture below: but it does not printing or neither provide me with an error , even check on the printers control panel for secure print nothing in the queue, i also check on the admin area of the printer all setting looks to be normal i have add more screenshot to show.

but one thing when i print normal it works , just when printing secure to release at the printer i am not getting anything , can anyone help me out please , thanks , i have gone through manual no luck
