Re: Secure print job fails - Not enough memory?

You will want to use the Details Tab in Task Manager to see system background tasks that may be using memory. Windows will aggressively use available memory for indexing and background tasks when user tasks leave it available. But, the moment a user task needs that memory, it will be freed up. So unless you are seeing a problem, I would not worry about 50% usage.

there is also an option if you go to the printin preferences, advanced tab , to compress the spoolfile, test it first, because the quality is also less , but it decreares the spool file dramaticly!

Re: Secure print job fails - Not enough memory?

Yes it will help to get the upgrade. But no guarantees.

Not sure of the amount it will increase each thing.

But, things that should help out that cost nothing:

1. Use a PS driver, it will vastly reduce the spooled file size over PCL, Generically speaking averages, with a PS driver it multiplies size in the spooler by a factor of 10, so a 4.5 MB job would likely spool to 45MB. PCL could very easily more than double that.

2. Make sure the networked port is LPR , queue name is lp and LPR Byte Counting/SNMP are disabled

With those settings I would think the jobs should go through fine up to a file size of 100MB assuming fonts and images are embedded properly in the file.

Secure print job fails - Not enough memory?

Product Name: Other - specify product in post

I have a Xerox WorkCentre 3615. It has 1G ram. We print big jobs through secure print. The job is successfull at 70 pages but fails at 100. There are times that the job needs to be 200 pages. The Disk Ram setting is maxed at 300MB. The error we get is:

- Insufficient free space in Device Memory.  Printer is unable to print.   :016-982

The PDF that prints the 100 page job is 4.5 MB. Is there a way to increase the Disk RAM beyond 300MB? What is the corolation between Disk RAM and the actual size of the file?

I found the Productivity Kit for this printer. It states, "Includes 4GB device memory, expanded Secure Print, Save Print, expanded Job Collation, Security Certificates Storage, Font / Form / Macro Storage."

Will this solve my problem? How much does it expand Secure Print? I can't find any documentation on this.
