Re: Sequential Ballot numbering on Xerox 800 & fIery rip

We have a 700. In Indesign I design raffle tickets 5 up. You have to create an excel file with your numbering 5 up or 5 columns, save as a text file. Use your data merge in Indesign. If your file is too large your Indesign will crash. So keep the placement of your number and delete all other copy on the page. Then do a data merge. It will create just the numbered pages. Send that to your Fierty command workstation as process and hold. Go back and send original file with just your copy layout as a process and hold job. In your command workstation open copy file

go to VDP tab. Create the master: Not created. Leave use master as: None

Then right click on your doc and Remove Master. Then process and hold.

Then you want to go to your numbered doc. Go to VDP tab. Leave Create Master alone. Use master pull down tab should have your document name in list. Select that. Do the same as the before right click and remove raster and the process and hold. When done processing you should be able to view your documents merged together with the numbering in the right places. Hope this helps. Oh be aware....clean out your Fiery often, if you get to many VDP doc archieved your Fiery will crash. It just cant handle it unless you have the Fiery with the extra features.

Tripp is correct. You just need an Excel file with a record for each number you would like to print.

Build a 1-up ticket in InDesign and use Data Merge to print to a multi-page PDF. There will be one page per record in the PDF.

Hopefully you purchased Seequence Impose for your 800. You can now impose your PDF in CommandWorkstation to get them multi-up on a 12x18 sheet. You will need to use the "Gang up" and "Unique" features.

There is a feature in InDesgin called data merge. I am not terribly clear on implementation but I am pretty sure it can be used to get the result you are after.

Re: Sequential Ballot numbering on Xerox 800 & fIery rip

Hello PrintingService,

Some Xerox products have a feature called annotation, which is page numbering, but you're looking to add a number to each of your 10 ballots on a page correct?

Your Xerox 800 won't number each individual ballot.  I think that you'll have to use your Adobe software to add the numbering scheme that you want.  I'm not an expert in that area so I may be wrong.  Hopefully, someone else with more experience in that area will see your post and provide a better answer.

Sequential Ballot numbering on Xerox 800 & fIery rip

Product Name: Other - specify product in post
We need to run a job printing election ballots; 10 up on a 12x18 sheet. Each ballot must be individually numbered, i.e. The first sheet will have ballots 00001 thru 00010 and so on. I have a PDF file, as well as the original inDesign file. What do I need to do to have it number the ballots? We have 29,000 to run.....
Thanks
