Well it's a desktop running a Windows 10 Operating System and the printer is connected via USB port and is only being shared on the network.
He has a Windows server sharing the driver, not a Mac.
The Macs don't inherit the Windows preferences.
There was no question here on locally setting the preferences on the client Macs, the question was pushing the Windows preferences to the mac clients
TO make default printing selections on your mac, open safari/ffox/chrome:
Its the CUPS interface,
Select printer
Under Maintenance>Set Default Options
You can't use a Windows server driver to push default settings to a Mac client. You need CUPS for that, which windows doesn't support. You would need to make one of the Macs the server.
You mean I need to install the printer's drivers on each devices that's going to use it? What driver should I use for a Xerox Phaser 6280DN that is being shared on a Windows print server? Specially with the one's using MAC OS, the printer configurations for printing preferences and default is so limited.
Then it would seem that the drivers need to be reinstalled on the client PC's.
There is no other place to set the preferences server side than the 2 sperate ones I listed above, if the settings don't carry down to the clients it is a workflow issue (you set it up wrong client side) or the server itself is broken in some way
The printer is connected to the desktop by the USB port and is shared on the network if that helps on any way
I actually tried that already but what happens is, when I print on the other laptops the printer still use their devices printing preferences.
On the Desktop PC go to Devices and Printers and right-click the shared printer and go to Printer Properties > Advanced > Printing Defaults and set the defaults you want the other PC's to have.
Is there a way to set a default print settings for all users who are using our shared printer on a desktop PC instead of manually setting it up on all devices. We are using Xerox Phaser 6280DN by the way.
