Re: Shared printer won't connect

Errors like this about the workstation are logged on the server:

The description for Event ID 1 from source Universal Print cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer.

If the event originated on another computer, the display information had to be saved with the event.

The following information was included with the event:

Failed to get auth header with 0x8086000c
mcpmanagementservice.dll

The locale specific resource for the desired message is not present

Shared printer won't connect

Product Name: VersaLink C7020/C7025/C7030 Multifunction Printer
Operating System: Windows Server 2016

The printer has for a long time been shared from the server and deployed to workstations through a group policy. One workstation is not able to use the printer. The deployment doesn not occur after restart or gpupdate /force, and an attempt to install the printer by "//server/Xerox Versalink  ...." causes various unwanted effects. Sometimes there is a message that the driver installed is a Microsoft Point and Print driver, sometimes it appears or not in the list of printers, sometimes it is listed in the "Select a Printer" windows when trying to print a document, but cannot be selected without the Print button going gray:

Thank you for any ideas on how to resolve this.
