Re: Slow to Select Printer or Properties

This is incorrect as I purchased my unit in August of 2020 and attempted the installation process at that time.

This was resolved by the most recent Xerox drivers for this model of Altalink, as of mid 2020.

Those are just the same windows 10 drivers.

The workaround is to use the built-in driver for the 6180DN or HP Color LaserJet 9500 PCL 6.  Either of these drivers will allow printing in minutes.

I too am interested in where to find older drivers. The newest one requires updating our thin clients and we're not trashing those for a printer driver.

Slow to Select Printer or Properties

Jump to solution
Product Name: AltaLink C8030 / C8035 / C8045 / C8055 / C8070 Color Multifunction Printer
Operating System: Windows Server 2016 x64

Our company is having a problem with our networked Xerox printers where there is upwards of a 30 second delay when you either try to switch to a different Xerox, or try to open the Printer Properties.

We are using a dedicated Windows 2016x64 Print Server and the the latest drivers for the C8030, C8035, and C8070 models.  Printers are shared here with dedicated TCP/IP ports.

I have disabling and enabling SNMP and the "Enhanced Features" options as suggested elsewhere.

I have tried using the PCL6, PCL5, PostScript, and Universal Global drivers (all the latest versions).

I have tried moving the Print Server role to another server in case it was a Windows problem.

Our sister site has a Windows 2008R2 server using the AltaLink C8045 PCL6 driver version 5.528.10.0N 2017.02.14 and does not seem to have this delay.  Would I be able to get a link to download this older driver version to try?  Or is there anything else we can do to eliminate this delay?

To clarify, there is no delay once printing begins.  The delay is only when you try to select a different Xerox on the network, or to view the Printer Properties box to change paper sizes or move between B&W vs Color.

Thanks.
