Joe,
you said 'Printers lock themselves to whatever is loaded first. If it is a new machine with the toners it came with, and you put metered toner in, it becomes a metered machine.'
that is NOT true!!!
if you want to use metered toners/ink in xerox printer, you WILL need to buy whatever model you wish to use as a metered machine, example---> I bought a xerox 7800DN on APRIL 2017 and loaded it FIRST with metered toners, I did not use the toners (sold) that came with the machine, and I got a error msg of: INVALID TONER! ,, I should have bought the xerox 7800DNM not the 7800DN,
so your response of 'Printers lock themselves to whatever is loaded first. If it is a new machine with the toners it came with, and you put metered toner in, it becomes a metered machine.'
that is F A L S E ! ! !
HOWEVER, that may be ONLY true if that accurs at the xerox
factory when they manufacture them, when they load either SOLD or METERED toners, then I can see it accepting whatever type of
toner then, but by the time the printer reaches the consumer, ITS TOO LATE!
Printers lock themselves to whatever is loaded first. If it is a new machine with the toners it came with, and you put metered toner in, it becomes a metered machine.
Same goes for Sold.
If you put the wrong one in after the machine is set, you will get a fault Invalid Toner and be unable to print until it is removed.
