Re: Strange characters printed sparsely on lots of pages

I would just use the Generic PS Driver that MAC comes with , it is just a  Printer so you dont need all the featurwes of an big  MFD,

I would just add the printer manually and select the driver and not use the Xerox PPD file as it might not be updated

There is also a backend for the printing on a MAC called CUPS for Common  Unix Print System, All macs have that

Use Safari and put in this address 127.0.0.1:631

this opens the Print Manager for Mac that runs in the  backgound

It might also say CUPS  is not enabled but you just copy and paste the command line in  the quotation

Open up the terminal window and paste it in , this wil lenable the CUPS feature

You can then mangage you printers and drivers from there .. it is a powerful tool

This issue occurs only on MacOs, on Windows i just tested with the latest drivers and latest Windows 10 Pro version and the printing is fine.

For the moment i am using a Windows 10 VM to print from my Mac.

Can someone from Xerox confirm these statements or if someone is working for a new Mac driver version ?

Is anyone from Xerox going to reply to these forums? It's unacceptable that there isn't proper driver support for brand new printers. See my post below, I have a Xerox B210 black/white laserjet printer.

Hello everyone,

I have the same issue, the printer started to consume all the paper and print only garbage.
Xerox WorkCenter 3225, Mac Book Pro 2020 with latest MacOS and latest drivers + firmware.
All settings are on default.

Please fix this issue as the printing function is broken at this point.

The Acrobat Reader option is grayed out.

I'm running the latest macOS Catalina software, and I have the latest Xerox drivers downloaded for my Xerox B210 black/white laserjet printer. This printer has been absolute garbage ever since I set it up! It will NOT print anything but crazy characters. Doesn't matter if it's a pdf through preview, a pdf (even image) through adobe reader, or if it's a word document that I started and drafted entirely on my 2020 macbook pro 16". It doesn't matter if it's a pdf that I've made through "printing as pdf" or a pdf that I get sent in an email from a site, even a pdf from a secure site like my bank, that is downloaded...will print nothing but garbage characters on multiple sheets of paper. This is WASTING my time, toner, and life of the printer. This is a joke, I can't believe the amount of $ I spent on this printer and even more, the amount of time that I've wasted trying to make it work.

Please tell me that somehow, Xerox has a way to make this work. I NEVER had this issue on the same exact computer and network setup that I do right now, with my previous Samsung Laserjet printer.

The macOS® Catalina drivers continue to be released.  The Catalina driver for the WorkCentre 3215 / 3225 and Phaser 3260 is now available.  If you do not see it listed please select a different language in the language field on the drivers and downloads page and then change back to the language you need and you should see the driver.  This is a cache issue that we are aware of and working but in the meantime, the changing language tip will work. We thank you for your patience and apologize for the delay in releasing the drivers.

Thanks,

For the Font thing:

If using Preview, switch to using Acrobat/Reader

If already using Acrobat/Reader, go to File  > Print > Advanced and change the Font and resource policy to Send For Each Page

Print as Image will fix it to, but its much less inelegant

I narrowed it down to that yes, because it only happens on macOS.

Also if i restart the printer it works well for a while.

There is also the issue of the scanning not working with Catalina, we need a driver update for macOS and maybe a firmware one also for the printers.

Strange characters printed sparsely on lots of pages

Jump to solution
Product Name: WorkCentre 3225
Operating System: macOS 10.15 Catalina

Hi.

I recently have been experiencing times when i will print a PDF and the printer would start printing strange characters on 10% of the page spanning multiple pages.

It happened to me on two different macs and with two different WorkCentre's 3225.

The macs have the latest Catalina version.

The printers have the latest firmware.

I would fix this by restarting the printer.

I first thought it was something to do with the PDF, but then i tested printing web pages and got the same malfunction.

At one point, one of the macs was printing fine and the other was not, in the same lan on the same printer, the second mac would get fixed after a printer restart, the first mac had no issues whatsoever.

I'm not sure if this is a Catalina issue or Xerox issue, but i can't help wonder about it being a Xerox issue because i see no driver for Catalina released yet on the 3225's page.

Anybody else having this kind of issues?
