We have the same issue. There are tons of us in the same office.
Printer is Xerox Versalink x7020. All who have macs and new updates are unable to print.
We have used the possibility to install as GEneric PCL printer, but then what is the use of having the massive machine, if we can just print A4 and black white (no colorprint nor A3 possibility")
Windows computers seem to work and can choose all different options. I should recheck, but it seems that also older macs with older op systems are working.
All this changed around 2 months ago on February.
Is there a PCL driver for Apple?
Thanks for the input. The printer is a Primelink C9065. I can only find that it has PCL and does not have PostScript enabled.
The fault code 016-749 typically indicates that the PDL (page description language) of your print job is not supported by your printer. If you installed drivers on macOS that means that your printer does not currently support Adobe PostScript. You didn't post what model you have, but based on that fault code, you most likely have 3 options for printing from your Macintosh PC.
1. Purchase a PostScript enablement for your printer.
2. Setup the printer in MacOS as a 'Generic PCL' printer. You'll have very limited printing options.
3. If your printer supports Apple AirPrint setup the printer as an AirPrint printer.
If you respond to this post with the model of printer that you have than the community can elaborate further about things to verify on the device and any other potential solutions.
Latest driver intalled, only get error message at the printer: 016-749.
Printing a test page prints multiple sheets (100+) of code.
