Re: Unable to Print

Jump to solution

Brainstorming...

1. Have you checked the permissions for the printer (in driver)?
2. Have you deleted the printer port, then added it back?
3. Have you completely removed the printer from windows printer list, reboot, then manually loaded a driver from xerox.com?
4. Have you tried the v3 (Win7) driver?
5. Do you have another printer that you can use for testing the print function in Windows in general?
6. Have you inspected the print manager within windows, and used it to track the job.
7. Have you inspected the Win update list to see if you can get an idea of which update could have broke the printing?
8. Have you considered rolling Windows back a (restore) point or two?
9. Have you inspected the win event logs for clues.
10. Have you considered using Wireshark to verify whether the job is being submitted to the network or not.

Well, probably not the only one that has stumped me; perhaps I am getting too old to remember the other ones, or perhaps I wanted to forget them.  Thanks for your help on this!

Wow... thats about how long for me too... and if this is the first thing that has stumped you then you are a much better tech than me.

I doubt I led you anywhere new with this. But thanks for being patient and cooperative with things you probably already covered before you came here.

I'm not done... have just run out of ideas at the moment. The weird ones are the ones that make things interesting. I like challenges.

I appreciate that. I have been playing around with computers for about 30 years and this is the first thing that has completely stumped me.

Ok... I was just making sure since the fact that others could print influenced which troubleshooting direction was taken.

Sorry... I know this is frustrating... I was just trying to lighten the mood a bit.

Yes it does.  They are other family member computers however.  My computer is the only one that does not work with the printer.

Re: Unable to Print

You did say that the printer works from other computers, correct? Or did I misunderstand?

So now I have a great Xerox printer that I cannot use.  Wonderful.  I did a complete reinstall of windows once earlier this year and I may have to try that again.  Thanks for the help; not your fault that it doesn't work.  Gary
