Well, I have finally managed to find a solution to the problem.
I have had to install the Global Mobile Express Driver software from;
Using this and printing direct instead of through our print server has allowed me to choose and retain the hole punch facility!
No kudos for CherylO-Xerox on this occassion :smileysad:
Thank you for using the Support Forum. It really sounds like you have tried everything I would have had you try. Kudos for the great troubleshooting. The only other thing I would check is to make sure that you have SNMP enabled on your network as that is needed for the bi-directional communications to work properly and if that is not enabled it may be keeping the driver from finding the correct finisher. If this does not help then please consider contacting your support centre for further assistance.
We have recently rolled out Win7 across the board (from XP) and are now experiencing difficulties with our Workcentre Pro 245.
We have staples and hole punch finishing options which all worked fine under XP
Since upgrade to Win7 we have had to install the GPD which does show that the finisher for hole punch is installed.
However when we select hole punch at print time - it never hole punches. hole punches from the device itself work fine however, so no physical fault. If we select staples at print time, they work fine.
I have noticed when trying to change the print defaults, the the finishing option allows me to choose 1 staple, 2 staples, hole punch, or multiple finishings.
If I try to change the default settings for the printer, I get the following;
If I select 1 staple, the defaults remembers as 1 staple.
If I select 2 staples, the detaults remembers 2 staples.
If I select Hole Punch the defaults clear down to no staples, no hole punch.
If I choose Multiple finishings, 1 staple or 2 staples, and hole punch it clears down to no staples or hole punch.
No matter what I do, if hole punch is chosen, it is unable to store that option.
I though it might be a client PC file rights based issue, but I have tried this as domain admin user also.
I have been though disable bi-directiononal communications, and turning off the hole punch finisher and true enough, the option disappears from the finishing selections. I have set it to manual / on with hole punch enabled and it has made no difference - still will not store hole punch default. I have turned back onto bi-directional comms for now.
I have tried every version of the drivers I can find, PS, PCL5,PCL6 but there all produce the same error.
I have tried direct IP to the device, and using the print server, but again no difference.
I am at a loss as to what to try next, but this is definately a software based GPD issue.
I am thinking it is a registry setting that is missing maybe, but I have nothing to compare it with.
Any ideas anyone??
