Re: Unable to print to Phaser 7750GX from Mac OS 10.10 Yosemite

Jump to solution

Greetings,

I have been able to solve this problem.  Using the latest driver available, it needs to be installed as a LP device.  Using one of the other protocols causes the print queue to stall until a second file arrives.  I had previously tried IP or Bonjour types and neither of these worked. Using the LP protocol worked for the Phaser 7750GX as well as for our Docucolor 250 and X700 production printers.

Thank you.

Hi again!

Yes, it does sound like a driver issue for sure.

Though I have not encountered this before, hopefully someone else might have some hints?

Best Regards

Hi Kimzi,

Thanks for your suggestion.  I did find a workaround elsehwere on the web:  I changed the system version number from 10.10.2 to 10.9.5 in SystemVersion.plist (located in Harddrive->System->Library->CoreServices).  The installer then ran, located the printer, and installed it.  I then changed the version number back to 10.10.2.  However, there's another problem.  I can send a file to the 7750GX but it won't actually print until a second file arrives in the queue behind it.  The second file then waits for another to arrive, etc.  Any ideas on this issue?

Thank you, again, for your help.

Hi!

Remove all traces of the device / driver.

1. Download the printer driver from the homepage.
2. Run the file and follow the installation instructions.
(When installing a printer you may be asked to choose the right model
in a list, if this does not happen you can do the following)
3. Choose System Preferences -> Print and Fax.
4. Press the plus (+) sign:

5. Add the printer as a network printer IP.

6. Under queue write lp (LP), and under print using choose the correct driver. (you can also try leaving the queue blank)

If that doesn't work try THIS driver. It's for the 7760 but might work.

If it still doesn't work, I suggest using the built in generic driver on the MAC.

Best Regards

Kimzi

Unable to print to Phaser 7750GX from Mac OS 10.10 Yosemite

Jump to solution
Product Name: Other - specify product in post

We have just added two new Macs with OS 10.10 Yosemite.  I am unable to print to my Phaser 7750GX.  I've downloaded the latest driver (OS 10.9) and installed the printer as both a Bonjour device and an IP device.  With Bonjour, the Mac does not seem to communicate with the printer.  With the IP printer, the Mac print queue displays "Hold for Authentication" and the job does not print.  Has anyone been able to make this combination work?  If so, what are the steps?

Thank you.
