Re: Unable to print with accounting on Mac OS Mojave

Jump to solution

I run support for about 300 Xerox machines accross a state university campus with a density of 30% Mac users and this going back and forth with accounting breaking every OSX upgrade (or Office update) has become a challenge. Liek the suggestion made above I have told users to print from Office 365 or Acrobat DC since those work and wait for a resolution.

Hopefully Xerox coems out with a patch because I am slowly losing patience with Apple on these matters. Then again maybe we will all get an early Christmas present on this matter!

Meanwhile one group is going to see if we can deploy the fix from Fabio. Thanks all!

what  i did

in localhost:631 , set printer default options =>  'advanced'

enable  "Xerox standard accounting" and enable "do not prompt user id"

the open a 64 bit tool, print, xsa is already ON, first time it will prompt you for the code

then save it as a template

use that template for your other 32 bit tools

It isn't solved for anyone anymore, Apple went all out and broke it in more of their sandbox apps, Xerox can't fix it because Apple intends to have no 3rd party access (Xerox and probably every other manufacturer, here is a Konica user confirming)

The only workaround is to not print from Apple apps, which is very inconvenient at best (Save as pdf and print from Adobe reader)

Unfortunately this hasn't solved the problem for me.

Yes exactly the same problem with a brand new Altalink 8055C and Mojave. Can't access the accounting features when using Preview, Mac Mail, Safary, Ipage etc etc.

I guess it was, I was used with being able to change those settings in Preview, Notes or Mail but after the update I couldn't. It was possible to create the preset in Google Chrome. Thank you!

Are you certain this isn't an issue only for Safari,Pages and apps that are 32 bit?

Because Printer Features replaces Xerox features in those scenarios. 32 Bit because Xerox doesn't support them in 4.X drivers

Safari and Pages because Apple broke them through how they use a Plugin.

So if that is the case on yours, just create the preset in a 64 bit app like Adobe Reader/Acrobat, or even Firefox or Chrome

Oh, I forgot to mention that I'm using the latest driver for Mojave. It's actually the exact same file as for High Sierra, 4.19.3.

Unable to print with accounting on Mac OS Mojave

Jump to solution
Product Name: WorkCentre 7830/7835/7845/7855
Operating System: Other – specify OS in post

We're using the WorkCentre 7830 with accounting at our school and I noticed that after the Mojave update, the Xerox Features in the printing settings isn't showing anymore in any program. So there is no way to reach the "Accounting..." configuration to insert the user ID, and also the user id prompt isn't working. So basically it's the Safari Xerox Features/Printer Features problem all over again, but this time there's no Xerox Features to be found anywhere. Luckily I had previously saved my user settings in High Sierra, so I can still print using my preset but I'm looking for a solution for other computers, who doesn't have a configured preset.

From my understanding, Apple are the ones who are responsible for the Safari problem in previous OS versions, so I guess they're the ones responsible for this problem as well.

So I'm trying to come up with my own solution to this. One thing I've noticed is that the user ID is saved in the .plist for the printer presets. So is it possible to modify the preset .plist for that printer in Preferences folder, containing the user ID, and send it to users with their own user ID preconfigured in any simple way?
