I've been accessing the SIQA from the Versant 180 machine via path:
Admin Access >
Setup > Adjustment > Alignment Adjustment Setup > Auto Alignment adjustment > Print Calibration Chart >
Scan chart with document feeder.
What's surprising is, the alignment got worse the more i do it. I am using ordinary A3 90gsm paper.
That certainly should not be happening, I would go ahead and do a Manual adjustment instead while waiting for a tech to come fix whatever is actually wrong.
Tech came this week. Not solved.
Should I be using a separate SIQA software similar to other machines?
EDIT: He tried to align one side only to whatever the alignment is on the other side. I would have preferred to center one side on the paper then match the other side to it.
Seperate software is just the same thing we more places to fail.
As the end user, your choices are Auto or Manual alignment, which are the 2 methods within Setup > Adjustment > Alignment Adjustment Setup .
Beyond those 2 that adjust the hardware, the DFE can typically be used to somewhat software fix slight variences, think Server > Tray Alignment via Command Workstation. But that is just comnpensating for misaligned hardware, not actually fixing the problem like Auto (SIQA) and Manual adjustment.
Beyond that requires a tech, if the tech can't fix it, tell him to bring in a co-worker who can since the machine isn't running within quoted tolerance, which is:

If you are using local paper , than before SIQA Allignment make it possible that, your paper is proper cutted. Because due to non equal edge cutting of paper SIQA allignment show different result on different cutted paper
