I have been having an issue for the past couple weeks, which is very noticeable on long runs. Once I print upwards of a hundred sheets or so, I start to see colors printing lightly in the background accross the entire sheet. It gets worse and worse the more sheets we print in the same run. It is prominently in one color, but the issue does move with the drum if we swap 2 drums. Swapping out for a new drum seems to clean it up temporarily, but it comes back quickly. Also, letting the machine sit for a while seems to clean it up too. The problem is we have about 15 hours of printing to get done over the next 2 days, so we can't be stopping every 100 sheets, and we certainly don't have enough drums to only be getting 5% life out of them. Any suggesttions? The tech has already swapped out the fuser belt and all the devleoper housings.

I am having the same issue on a Versant 80 with backgrond on whole sheet and in edge erase areas. New drums, new developers, transfer belt and 1st transfer roller hvps. Took customers paper (80lb text glossy) to another machine and it ran fine. The background seems to be all colors. With new magenta drum and magenta developer I can still see slight magenta in the background. 2nd btr and fuser belt are new.

The issue is a bad batch of drums was produced. Xerox is very aware of the issue, and it presents itself in many different ways. From light toner in the background, to deletions, to seemingly random lines accross the sheet. Any drum with a date stamp of pre-May is bad. You should order some new drums. At this point, they have cycled through all the bad ones, and are sending out good ones, which I believe have been produced through a different manufacturer. We got a set with the date of June on them, and have not had any of the same problems we were having, and it has been a few weeks. I hope this is helpful. Thanks!
Wow , I just had the exact same issue for the last 10 days but somehow all the drums that I ordered recently had mach and May dates on them so they are definitely still shipping these out. is there a special website or number to order the new ones? I have been calling and re-ordering several drums but i really need to print tomorrow and i can't just wait for "fate" to send me the good batch. wanted to know if there's a specific place or person to contact who could get me a good batch on an immediate basis so i can carry on printing. any idea?
We had decided to give the customer another versant 80 that was brought back from the field. Upon getting it ready, it exhibited no background on 100# coated text. The machine was at ver 31 software. I decided to upgrade to ver 44. Big mistake, after running a 100 back to back I could see the background even without my loupe. I immediately restored saved nvms of ver 31 and reloaded ver 31. The background was diminished. I then upgrade the software to ver 83 and there was no change. So I believe ver 83 to be good, forget ver 44. Upon delivering the machine to the customer this Monday I replaced all the drums with those that were dated 5/2017. I have not heard of any issues so far as to background. Maybe the software I have is corrupt. I’m not sure. But the customer’s machine was upgraded to ver 44 in the past. I can’t wait to get my hands on his machine in our shop to see if my theory is correct, that software is corrupt. My plan is to take it back to factory default and go from there. I don’t know what version you’re at on your machine. But it’s something to think about. Drums are dated on the label on the drum and a white sticker on the box. Anything after April is good and I’ve seem good results. I’ll post my results.
I am checking with my technician now about what software version, but he says it hasn't been updated recently.
We also got new drums this morning and they are dated 22 June 2017. we were also advised to rest to calibration settings to default. so im doing this and will post the results.
Nothing changed with the calibrations set to default.
We have done all of these chnages and fixes, even with new drums, calibration, new power supply, cleaning the machine, it is still giving a faded pink background all over the white page when one does a color print.
It works now, okay what solved the issue in the end was the technician changing the magenta developper housing!
