WC 7845 Lpr options

Hi and thanks for your reply,

I did extract the PPD file from the Windows drivers and installed the printer with the PPD instead of the driver.

(lpadmin -p wc -E -v lpd://xxxxxxx -P /usr/share/cups/model/wc-7845.ppd)

Now with lpoptions -p wc -l, I can have the option (and the paper color one) and use them with lpr command.

You could get the ppd from the Windows Xp driver, or the Generic PPD.

As for running LPR commands, All commands are in the PDL reference guide.

Tray mapping can be done ala CWIS > Properties > Services > Printing > Page Description Languages > PCL > Tray Mapping  (Not Color, but it will work)

Usually the best bet is to go with the Windows XP driver, extract the PPD, modify it manually to eliminate the options you don't have on your printer and install via CUPS. In this method you won't have the ability to access Xerox Standard Accounting, but everything else will work. Obviously this is not supported by Xerox, and is not a good method if you don't understand the code in the PPD.

Hi,

I have installed the RPM driver on a CENTOS 6.5.

I have installed the Printer (WC 7845) with the xeroxprtmgr in network mode.

When I try to get the options for Lpr (lpoptions -l), System tells me that no PPD files exist for my printer.

Is there a way to list the options I can use with lpr for this printer ? I need to print with command line and choose the tray (and Yellow color for tray 3).

(ex lpr -o InputSlot=2tray myfile.pdf)
