The Bypass Tray 1 (MPT) mode setting can be set from the control panel. There are two options:
When the bypass mode is enabled (On), the printer prints the job on the paper loaded in Tray 1 (MPT) even if it does not match the paper type and size selected for the print job. To use a tray other than Tray 1 (MPT), you must select Force printing from a specific tray in your printer driver.
When the bypass mode is disabled (Off), the printer prints from the tray containing the requested paper type and size for the print job.

If you choose a tray to print to, the job should not autoswitch to another, Auto Tray Switching should only apply when you choose a size and or type, but not a tray.

What is the "MPT Bypass Mode" setting" for?

Jump to solution
Product Name: Phaser 3610
Operating System: Windows 7 x64

Am working on configuring a Xerox Phaser 3610 with the ultimate goal of printng checks using printed form stock via the bypass tray without it defaulting to Tray1 should the forms in the bypass tray run out.  How best do I accomplish this?  I'm using the PCL5 driver for its tray selection cabability but can't find a setting in it or in the printer configuration settings that explicity stops printing from another tray should the bypass tray run out.

I found a System Setting called "MPT Bypass Mode" for which I can't find any documentation.  Is this of any importance to the above goal?
