I have just purchased a Phaser 6510 and following the setup procedure straight out of the box, plugged the wifi adapter provided into the back of the printer but when accessing the settings via the control panel there is no 'wifi' option on the menu as described?
I am having the same issue, though we have had the printer for a while and it stopped working about halfway through its lifetime (no WiFi printing able). So, yeah, no WiFi Settings in the Admin Menu, whatsoever. I have no idea how this could happen, honestly it almost sounds like a hard-coded hardware bug and that you would have to return the printer, but that's just me.
So, received this message from the Support Forum:
I figured it out in my own. The USB connection in the inside of the machine was not straight in the machine. I took off the small side panel and took a pencil and used the easier side to get it up to the USB port inside and make it straight so the the WiFi adapter SNAPS! in correctly and is flush with machine.
See if this helps
On inspection of my machine this was the case. The USB port was bent backward on the circuit board so that despite the adjacent locating lug on the WiFi adapter locking home the USB plug was not connecting into the socket. (I MAY have bent it out of the way on my initial unsuccesful attempt to attach the WiFi adapter). As suggested, I managed to hold a pencil inside the machine and with the eraser end push the USB socket back into position and provide firm support whilst inserting the adapter. Bingo! on restart the WiFi settings are on the Admin menu and the following set up is a piece of cake!
So, problem solved, however, does not seem right that I should need to take off an access cover and poke a pencil into a brand new out-of-the-box printer to get it working! Feels like a design flaw to me that the USB port is difficult to locate, flimsy and so poorly supported. Keep that pencil close!
I got that and did the same with a screw driver but for me it was the wifi connector on the circuit board that did not line up with the adapter box ... this is clearly a design flaw/quality issue
Thank you, I have just had this issue after using it for the last 6 months and have solved it from your description. The reviews are so good for this printer but we are having nothing but issues with it. It is very needy!
