Installed PS option and customer is satisfied with print quality now
Xerox does not officially support users on this forum, I'm here "between calls" as it were in order to help out, so the RiD, or Serial number or Log number is not needed in any way.
I have a 7120 next to a 7225 and I get the same on both printers, but I do so with the settings changed like shown above.
That said, if copies are the same then native pdf should be too, since all color is handled the same way when you take out the application and driver layer, so assuming both have the PS kit, print a pdf via CWIS and see if they come out the same. If they do, you need to look at submission level.
Forgot to list RID 507440885 and to agree with you; I told the client on my first visit the 7125 and 7225 are Business color machines, not graphic color. Sadly, there is a very noticable difference in print quality.
Thanks
OK, my bad. I only saw the driver on the right and that it was the PS driver. As you say, there really are no possible changes with the PCL driver. Also learned today that there are 6 spar updates since the last .73 public release. Unfortunately it didn't make a difference. I have attached samples to this post: the first 1 is from the 7125 and the 2nd is from the 7225. as you can see, the 7225 are darker and more saturated.
Also note that both the 7125 and 7225 COPY the origionals faithfully. there is no disernable difference between either of the origional and their copies.
You missed most of the paragraph it seems, I stated that the defaults are the issue and explained how to resolve it and even showed it in a picture and highlighted the area to try.

In my opinion, the PS driver defaults are pretty wretched for accuracy, Xerox Automatic Color invariably will make blues too dark and add too much magenta to shadow. PCL of course doesn't do anything
In the above dropdown, I prefer None but I calibrate my monitor with an X-rite, LCD or sRGB may work better for some.

You will never get 100% accuracy, the printer isn't exactly a Full Pantone Certified device, it is an Office product, meant to make your Pie chart look great so that is where the driver defaults are set.
I can't tell you 100% how to get accurate color, because if you are comparing printed output to your monitor it would merely be a fluke for them to be the same unless you had a it calibrated too. And even then, no matter the printer, you would need to load ICC profiles from the printer into the Application (ala Indesign) and likely for a print shop export that document as a PDF/x3 or higher and print that to make sure the whole profile and everything else make it to the printer.
On my work laptop I have 2 external monitors, all run of the mill type stuff from Dell, all 3 monitors show the same image slightly different due to how they are made, all the same manufacturer.
On my design PC I have it Calibrated and the output is very close to any printer when the profiles are loaded.
joe,
If the PS option leaves the blues too dark and Magenta overpowers background. I don't see where it's a viable solution.
Am I misunderstanding?
PCL versus PS, With a PS driver you gain vast color control, but you need to adjust your workflows to match, PCL sends much less information, so there is 0 chance you will actually be able to hit a pantone color , but what you see on a completely uncalibrated RGB monitor is typical of the print. It's more of expectation verses reality.
Neither the 7120 nor 7220 come with PS as standard, so it may not be an option to use it.

Has anyone found a solution for this? we just replaced a 7125 with a 7225 in an archetect office and they are very unhappy with the 7225 print quality. They 4 color grey has a pinkish tint and the overall density is lighter than the 7125.
Firmware is current.
Customer and Service Color Calibrations have been done.
Using the Global Driver
Compared to the WC71xx, color quality is realy dissapointing on WC72xx.
Seems a software/firmware issue though.
Make sure you calibrate the printer.

Sometimes a differnt driver can give you a different result.
