Sorry for the late reply, It means that it's one of the rollers in the machine, my guess is the fuser. Did you have a look at the rollers, for any defects?

Thanks for reply.
I printed 10 blank pages and could see smudges only on the first page. There were no mark of any kind on rest of 9 pages.
Where does this lead to us?
I tried stopping the paper before it reaches but I'm not able to do so bad timing all the time ;)

To me it looks like a repeating defect, if you run around 10 blank pages, does the smudges disappear or get less visible?
Have a look at the fuser, can you see any defects on the fuser? also if you stop the printing process before the paper reaches the fuser (opening the door, etc.), is the defect already on the paper?

Hi All,
We are issues with Xerox Workcenter 6605 print quality. It leaves faint but clearly visible smudges on the left side of paper. Smudges are in black and other colours. See snapshot below.

We replaced imaging unit but still it didn't solve the problem. I can't find any tuts on how to clean anything for 6605.
We are having this issue for almost over a year now.
Xerox technical support wouldn't help which is obvious as they want to make money to fix a broken printer. They just sent £366.00 quote to fix this problem. It's better to buy a new printer than go for servicing.
Does anyone know how to fix this issue if it can be fixed from our side?
