Hi jakemobile,
Try the LPD that is the recommended protocol. Another workaround that is not supported by Xerox is to contact Apple Support to help you temporarily disable the Mac OS 10.11.x's System Integrity Protection. This will allow you to install the Mac OS 10.10.x driver (followed by re-enabling the System Integrity Protection) and use your Xerox device. This workaround is neither supported nor officially recommended by Xerox. Some other customers have said it worked for them.
Is there any update on this? I have a gigantic paperweight right now.
Ahhhh, this is SOOOOO frustrating. I deleted all of the installed Xerox drivers on my Mac, downloaded and installed the one you posted in the link and when I try to print from Chrome or the Notes app I get the error message "042-372 Code 1000000 Restart Printer Contact Support if message returns". I've powered the machine on/off several times and continue to get that same message. I can however print the System Settings from the top panel so the printer is actually working.
Now using your second suggestion, I've tried adding the printer using "Generic Postscript PPD" and the Mac sends the job to the printer but nothing happens on the printers side. No message, no printing, nothing.
When adding the printer in either case, which Protocol should I be using? My options are:
- AirPrint (which is not supported on this model printer)
- Internet Printing Protocol (IPP)
- Line Printer Daemon (LPD)
- HP Jetdirect Socket
On both of my earlier install attempts I've been using HP Jetdirect socket but I'm not sure that's correct. Can you confirm which one I should be using?
I'm assuming this won't matter so which drivers from a different Xerox model can I use? Please provide a link to it if possible.
Hi jakmobile,
Thank you for using the Support Forum. Please try the recently released driver to see if it will work for you. If not then add the printer on macOS using the built-in “Generic Postscript PPD”.
If Xerox driver features are really needed, you can try an unsupported work-around in which you install the Xerox macOS Class Print Driver from a closely related product which is supported on the OS. Note that there may be incompatibilities that could cause not all feature/function to work properly.
Hi,
I realize that there is no new updated drivers for this Xerox device using Big Sur but I'm wondering if anyone has found a workaround (specific older driver) or 3rd party utility that will work? I find it insane that support for this device is no longer happening and thus it's basically forcing me to buy a new printer. Please help!
