Workcentre 6505 not printing black anymore.

Hello,

We purchased a Workcentre 6505N in March of this year. Recently the black began to fade to grey and has now stopped printing anything in black at all.

We have replaced the ink but that did not help.

The printer has printed about 4500 pages.

Any ideas?

Hi, RyanMP

Try doing a manual Color Registration Adjustment.

And see if that helps.

Did it completely stop when replacing the ink?

Best Regards

Re: Workcentre 6505 not printing black anymore.

When I replaced the ink the faded print was exactly the same as before I switched them. It continued to print like this until it eventually stopped printing black altogether.

I have performed the manual color registration adjustment which has improved my color quality but there is still little to no black printing (there are very faint dots that are barely visible).

It sounds like the ink isnt making into the developer unit. Mine started getting light so they sent me a new imaging unit which fixed it.

Hi again!

I agree with fiery, it does sound like a blocked path.

Have a look at THIS article, cleaning the augers described in step three could do some good.

Re: Workcentre 6505 not printing black anymore.

Thank you for that link, I've had a little bit of progress. I followed the instructions and it has restored some ink when printing but the quality is not good. I have printed about 100 pages trying to get the ink flowing steadily again.

I have attached the best quality print I've had so far.

Re: Workcentre 6505 not printing black anymore.

Hi again!

It might be more than just one problem, if you purshased this new and got warranty I would suggest you ask for an engineer.

Could be the drum too.

Best Regards

Yeah, I wrote the article in question. I would take the drum out and shake it a little (gently) some toner might fall out so not over carpet, to disperse the toner more evenly in the developer unit part. Then run some more pages. If that fails then I might run the motor test one more time.

Re: Workcentre 6505 not printing black anymore.

I adapated the solution (link posted by Nivek) for the Workcentre 6505 Duplex. Please read the full link of Nivek first http://www.fortwayneprinterrepair.com/wordpress/2014/03/17/xerox-phaser-6500-workcentre-6505-light-p...

  1. Turn the printerOff.
  2. Press and hold the Up and Down arrows simultaneously and turn the printerOn.
  3. Release the buttons when Service Mode (printer Diag, Fax/scanner Diag) is on the  display.
  4. Printer Diag > OK
  5. Arrow down → Engine diag > Ok > Arrow Down → Motor Test > OK
  6. 23x Arrow Down (Yes 23) > yellow (24x = Magenta, 25x=Cyan, 26x=Black) > Ok > give it a 30 second run > Noice: toner is pumpt internal > push red button to stop.
  7. Do a printtest with the problemcolor. Resolved? No? → Try another 30 seconds enz

My problem was solved after about 4 or 5 runs.

In step 6 you could take Arrow up x-times; is a bit shorter.
