Hey!
This can also be changed in CUPS, you can change default settings for paper tray there too.
Under Administration -> Manage Printers -> Select the printer -> Change default settings.
You can try and see if that helps, do you have a scanner unit on ur machine?
If so try copying by using tray 2 and see if that works.
If it still does not work and its taking from tray 2 while copying, yea then maybe you're better of by just reinstalling and trying again.
Thank you!
Hi Kimzi,
Thanks so much for getting back and trying to figure this out with me. I went through the link you sent and on the system printer preferences the duplex box was already checked however I did select "tray 2" and tried printing to that...it defaults to my manual feed slot/asks me to insert paper into the manual feed. It won't even take it from my tray. I just don't understand why it was working and now not?
Is there something on the actual unit I can reset? If not, I guess I will try to remove the driver and reinstall? If you can think of anything else, I would appreciate your help! Thank you again.
Hi again!
Sorry for the delay.
I would suggest that you take a look at this page, and see if your settings is correct.
Also selecting tray 2 when printing your two-sided document may help.
Thanks!
Hi kimzi, thanks for the note. I had never heard of CUPS! I checked it out and everything seems as it should be. I'll try to add the screenshot I took.
I'm wondering if I can reset the actual printer to default to original settings? Or if there is somewhere else that I need to be looking on my Mac? I can't think of anything I might've changed, and I'm unsure why if I'm selecting long edge (for double side) and have multiple pages in my print window, what is overriding it to print single sided?
Heya!
I would suggest you take a look in CUPS on your mac.
And see if the correct settings is as default for the printer.
Thanks!
I started out printing fine to my Workcentre 6505dn. I am on a Mac with an OS 10.6. I believe the default was set to print from the tray and double side multiple pages. I had no problems. Lately, I have been trying to print double sided and the only way I am able to do it is by feeding each page in through the manual feed slot.
I have checked and double checked my print windows (through CS5 applications as well as Acrobat, Safari, etc.) - selected "long edge binding" under two-sided and chose tray 1 as opposed to automatic select. It will not produce a double-sided output? (Note: I've also tried long edge binding with auto select and still only single sided). What am I doing wrong? I'm puzzled.
Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!
