Re: Workcentre 6515 Printing a PDF doc with both portrait and landscape pages

Thanks Joe.  We use Windows 10 and have the 6515 PS.  Our dialogue boxes are very different to those you show.  We will review this morning.  The perplexing thing is the 6515 replaces a Xerox ColorQube 8570, with which we did NOT have this issue.

Switch to the global PS driver then, that is what I have and it works, since you are on Windows 10 I would assume you have a class (v4) driver which requires a Xerox Print Experience app, I'm not a fan.

In MS we do NOT have the option:

According to you , and I quote, " Word documents print fine; that is, pages print portrait and landscape as required."

you don't have a problem in Word so it really doesn't matter, as I also stated, they behave differently

In Acrobat/Reader you have the option at the lower left that states
Auto Portrait/Landscape
Portrait
Landscape

There is no option for Auto Portrait / Landscape.

I would assume it isn't a standard Adobe product then, and since you don't mention an application for printing, or a driver, or an operating system, or anything at all, I had to make assumptions.

We reviewed your suggestion but the PDF document is only 8.5 x 11 pages. Plus as earlier reply, we don't have the Auto orientation button plus we didn't have this problem with the 8570.

Then the driver and or application were setup differently, because the output from one will work on the other just fine, the MS class (v4) driver is universal and looks the same in both printers, same with the Xerox GPD.

Any other suggestions?

Use adobe reader to print pdf and a Xerox v3 driver

Re: Workcentre 6515 Printing a PDF doc with both portrait and landscape pages

<In the following, take note that until the last screenshot I did not have your model selected, so 11*17 is shown as a printing size, it changes nothing in the facts, because the driver plays no part in the job unless you do the final screenshot and don't use the first 4>

MS and Adobe handle it differently.

In Acrobat/Reader you have the option at the lower left that states

Auto Portrait/Landscape

Portrait

Landscape

And you can see in the preview it will resize the job always to the default size (in my case 8.5*11)

1.GIF

If you have it on Fit it will resize the landscape pages to 8.5*11 landscape

2.GIF

And on Actual Size it will still print on Letter, and only show the 8.5*11 landscape portion, you can even see exactly what you will get

3.GIF

Now at this point I am going to add that none of this in any way has anything to do with Xerox, it is not the Xerox driver, these options are 100% from Adobe, and are not guaranteed to work.

I mention it because the next thing to try is very simple, and might work, but it might not, because it will often, if printing duplex, make the back side print upside down on the landscape pages, and in some cases, every page after the first one will print at the upper left corner thumbnail sized. But here you go.

Choose paper source by pdf page size will fix that maybe, it certainly will make it scale right in the preview.

As far as Xerox is concerned, that isn't supported by Xerox, only the driver is, so you would officially need to decide what pages you want on another size, and program them individually in the driver yourself via Document Options > Special Pages > Add Exceptions

Workcentre 6515 Printing a PDF doc with both portrait and landscape pages

Product Name: WorkCentre 6515

When we print a PDF document with both portrait and landscape pages, the landscape pages do not print properly (either they shrink to fit or only part of the page is printed).  Word documents print fine; that is, pages print portrait and landscape as required.

Help please!!  We must be missing something simple.
