You can't disable color, you can just make people use authentication and disallow color:

Enable the Print Auditron:

  1. Log in to CentreWare Internet Services (CWIS) using the following address: xxx.xxx.xxx/frameprinter.htm

    NOTE
: xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx represents the printer's IP Address. Contact your System Administrator or print a configuration report to obtain the IP Address if it is unknown.
  2. Check Enabled on the Print Auditron option.
  3. If users should still be able to print without an Account check Enabled for Non-Account Print.
  4. Select Save Changes and click Restart Printer.
  5. Follow the on screen instructions to refresh the page.

Add and Edit User Accounts:

  2. Select Edit User Account.
  3. Enter the number for the account to be altered. (1-50)
  4. Click the Edit
  5. Enter a User Name.
  6. Enter a Password.
  7. Re-enter the Password.
  8. Select Color Access.

NOTE: If set to Black only, color cannot be printed no matter what the color limit is set to.
  9. Enter Color Print Limit.
  10. Enter Black Print Limit.
  11. Select Save Changes.

Configure the Print Driver:

Microsoft Windows Print Driver:

  1. In Printers and Faxes/ Devices and Printers right click on the printers Icon and select Printer Properties.
  2. In Properties window select the Configuration
  3. Under the Accounting heading select System and set to Send user ID only.
  4. If Users need to enter Credentials each time:
    1. Set Print-Time Prompt to Always Prompt and set Remember Last Entered Codes to Disabled.
  5. If settings are saved on the Users computer:
    1. Set Print-Time Prompt to Do Not Prompt and click Accounting Codes and Setup to enter User ID and Passcode.

Apple MacIntosh Print Driver:

  1. Open a Document and go to the File menu and select Print.
  2. Use the Settings drop down to select Xerox Features.
  3. Use next drop down under Xerox Features to select Advanced.
  4. Click the Accounting
  5. Set Accounting System to Enabled.
  6. If Users need to enter Credentials each time:
    1. Set Accounting Prompt to Always Prompt.
  7. If settings are saved on the User's computer:
    1. Set Accounting Prompt to Do Not Prompt and enter User ID and Passcode.
  8. Click OK.

Re: Workcentre 6605 Color Toner Question

in my opinion your best option would be to host the printer on the network and share it, that way any driver changes you make there will apply to all users... with that said that wont stop them from going into their defaults on their desktop and changing it to what ever they want...

As far as removing the color toner... i am almost positive the printer wont even work you were to do that.

Workcentre 6605 Color Toner Question

Jump to solution
Product Name: WorkCentre 6605

I have a couple of questions regarding a Xerox Workcentre 6605 and Color Printing.

1) Is there a way through CentreWare IS to disable color printing without having to log onto every station and disable color printing that way through printing preferences? All of the units are setup to print via network not USB.

2) If we disable Color printing on these devices should we remove the color toners? Will leaving them in long-term without use cause any issues? I wasn't even sure if it would allow me to print if they were missing from the unit.

Thank You ahead of time for your help.
