You can't be programming the tray properly, when you load the tray it tells you what it thinks is in there, hit Change Settings and program it as what it is. The paper ream should tell you enough to get it right

The fully tested Xerox supplies are in the RML here. Since it has settings for weights listed, you should be able to run anytyhing you come across as long as it isn't bad quality or an unsupported weight/type
