Try it from the bypass tray. Its a straighter path.
I have tried three different brands of glossy paper, and continue to get the same results.
Mohawk, Xerox Elite Digital, and NewPage all jam with tonor-heavy images. Is this common for Xerox printers?
SUMMARY: My Workcentre 7346 won't print complex images to glossy paper. It will print simple images to glossy, but if the image uses a lot of toner, the paper jams as it is working through the fuser.
DETAILS:
I have a Workcentre 7346. I have loaded 118gsm glossy white paper into tray 4.
After closing the drawer, the printer prompted me to tell it what kind of paper I inserted. I set the paper type to "Gloss (106-169gsm)"
To make sure the printer knows how to handle the glossy paper, I took a color page, and copied it using the standalone Workcentre. It copied to the glossy paper, from tray 4, with no problems.
The problem is with printing. I have tried printing to this paper from both Mac OSX 10.8, and Windows 7.
On the Mac, I select paper type Glossy, and when I print, the 7346 correctly takes a glossy page from tray 4. However, it jams as the paper starts to exit the fuser. I open the left door and clear the jam. Then I'm able to print normally again, but not to the glossy paper in tray 3.
On the PC, I go into printer properties, and select paper by tray. I select tray 4, which the print dialogue on my PC correctly indicates to me contains glossy paper. When I select print, the printer correctly takes a glossy page, and jams as the page is starting to exit the fuser, just like with the mac. Again, I clear the jam, and delete the print job, and I'm able to print normally to other paper types.
I have been able to print the same image (a .pdf) to plain non glossy paper, but not with 100% success.
If I take the image that printed to plain paper, and try to copy it to glossy, the printer jams.
However, if I take a page with just some light text and copy it to glossy, it copies fine.
