Re: Workcentre 7556 printing problem

Hi phiii,

Thank you for using the Support Forum. Please try disabling the bi-directional communication so that the printer does not report the drum outage to the server and see if that will keep you printing.  Here are the instructions for turing it off.

  1. Open the Printers and Faxes or Printers window.
  2. Right-click the printer icon and select [Properties] from the menu.
  3. Click on the [Configuration] tab.
  4. Click on the [Bi-Directional Setup] button.
  5. Click on the [Automatic (Recommended)] radio button to enable Bi-Directional or click the [Off] radio button to disable Bi-Directional.
  6. Click [OK].  The Bi-Directional Communication window will close.
  7. If available, click on [Apply] and then click [OK].
  8. Close the Printers and Faxes or Printers window.

If this does not help please consider contacting your support centre for further assistance.

Thanks,

Workcentre 7556 printing problem

Product Name: Other - specify product in post

So one of the drums needs to be replaced, however we had none on hand so I ordered replacements last week and they have yet to arrive.  In the meantime the machine says print services are available, and up until yesterday everything was fine.  Now, the print server (Windows Server 2008 R2) won't print out any jobs, and just gives the message "User Intervention Required", well duh I know that the drum needs to be replaced but in the meantime the print jobs should still be working using the 3 good drums that are in the machine.

As a test, I am able to print fine from our Macintosh computers, as they bypass the print server.  So the Xerox operates fine on 3 drums just as it claims, but somehow it's communicating to the print server that it can't print without user intervention I guess....Anybody come across this issue before and figure out some kind of temporary work around (until the new drum shows up)???
