I found the solution. In the Xerox printer properties dialog box, click the Paper drop-down and select "Other Size..." Then in the "Original Document Size: drop-down box (4th drop-down box from the top), choose the desired paper size. Then click Close, OK, OK, and when you return to the PDF document it will show the dimensions of the new paper size chosen."
So the correct setting to change in the Xerox / Versalink properties is now in 2020 called "Paper...Other Size...Change document size" which was by default still set to Letter after I changed everything else to A4. After changing this to A4, all programs now seem to work properly. This setting seems to be ignored by other programs but Office picks it up and prints accordingly.
Hello,
I have two laptops and one of them is having a problem printing from Office programs (same thing happens in Word, Excel etc. and also with Windows Test Page feature). As you can see in the example photo (LINK), the margins of the second Excel printout are too large and cannot be made any smaller. All settings that I can find in the drivers etc. are the same on both laptops and set to print in A4.
To note, when first installing the drivers on the second laptop (that has the problem), the test page would not print properly (without intervention in the printer display menus) because it wanted to print it in Letter size. Because of this the paper size on this second laptop had to be changed manually in the Windows settings / Control Panel to A4 but it seems that there could be a setting that makes Office programs (and the Windows test page feature) think the paper size is still Letter, even though all other programs now can print normally in A4 and use the whole paper. The paper size is set correctly as A4 before printing in both the Office print dialog and the Versalink printer settings, so the faulty setting must be more hidden or this could be a problem with a specific driver that is only used with Office programs.
To clarify, all PDF files (Acrobat Reader) and for example printing from Chrome work on both laptops without a problem after the settings on the second laptop were changed from Letter to A4. The laptops and printer have been restarted several times and I have tried re-installing the drivers on the second laptop two times already. The printer is a Versalink C 500.
