Xerox 3600 Duplex Jam - Recurrent

I am getting a recurrant jam in the duplexer.  The paper feeds and you see it in come out of the printer.  It then goes back in to the duplexer and jams.  I open it up and fine the paper doubled over as though something is blocking its path and the printer contiues to push it.  It's like if you hold the paper stationary on a table with one hand and slide it towards that hand with the other.  It bunches up.  I have replaced the paper tray and the duplex unit.  Any other suggestions?  single sided prints wiht no jams ever.  Thanks!!!

Thank you for using the Xerox forum.

 

It sounds like you are on the right track.

  • If the paper has a pinch on the lead edge then it is likely catching on something that you can try to find by aligning the pinch point to the furthest point of the paper travel.
  • If there is no pinch visible then it may be an issue of transporting the paper through or after the duplex unit. You can remove the duplex unit and see if paper could feed manually through it by turning the duplex gears and feeding a piece of paper through.
  • Looking at the following solution #1 we can see that the fuser is the next assembly that the paper goes to. Does it get there or jam before that? CAUTION should be used as described in the solution because the fuser is very hot. Once cool you can see if paper can go through that manually and look to see if something is stuck in that assembly. Many times something can be affixed to the paper like a label or other foreign material and it sticks in the heated area, so it is important to determine if the paper stops there and find out why.


In order to attempt the prior suggestions I would suggest that you try the following solutions independently or as pictorial references.

  1. Solution : Clear the Paper Jam at the Duplex Unit
  2. Solution : Install the Duplex Unit

When searching on the Xerox 3600 Support site and using the search terms Duplex Jams I noticed many other possibilities that may also be of assistance if the previous ideas aren't successful. (See the following image)
