Xerox 4260 SLOW PRINTING on everything

Hi all - we have a Xerox 4260 connected to a server.


Previously - all workstations had Windows XP - and when printing be it a 10 page email, PDF files, Word Docs, etc, and several people were printing the Xerox would fire away the emails very quick - it wouldn't even stop in between print jobs.


Now we upgraded computers to Windows 7 64 bit and the Xerox stops for about 10 to 15 seconds (sometimes more - as I counted on a 5 page PDF it stopped for 23 seconds between when the page came out and the next page started printing) BETWEEN EACH PAGE it prints. So if we are printing a 10 page PDF or 15 page email - it takes about a good minute to minute and a half for the entire document to print.


The documents are just words - no pictures or anything print intensive.


Can anyone give any idea how to get the Xerox to print as fast as it used to?


Any ideas, tips or suggestions are very welcome.

Thank you for using the Support Forum.  Please make sure that you are using the driver for Windows 7 64.  If you are using the PS driver please try using the PCL driver.  For PDF documents disable the print as image option in the Adobe application.  You can also try disabling the bi-directional communication in the driver. 

Disable the Bi-Directional Communication in the Driver
  1. Open the Printers window.
  2. Right-click on the printer, and select [Properties] or [Printer Properties].
  3. Click on the [Configuration] tab.
  4. Click on [Bi-Directional Setup]. The Bi-Directional Communication window will be displayed.
  5. Under Communication:, click the [Off] radio button.
  6. Click on [OK].
