When you download and extract the driver there is a .pp_ file which is a compressed ppd file. Via command line the Windows expand command from the Windows\System32 directory is used to expand the .pp_ to a ppd. Example below after copying the .pp_ to the c:\temp.
C:\Windows\System32\expand c:\temp\xr469ee4.pp_ c:\temp\xr469ee4.ppd
There wasn't any wizzard other than cups letting you pick the PPD file. I had removed it and that got rid of the WCP filter error. I even tried the generic print drivers on LInux for the other Xerox printers.
But still doesn't fly. Now what I didn't know is what is the righ port to select in cups:
Currently using port: 9100

you need a wizard to install the driver , i think you manually copyed the ppd file and if you install the printer you select that ppd file??
There is a line in the pdd that refers to a cupsfilter , but that file cant be found...
You can comment that line in the ppd...
I'm having trouble locating a PPD file for Xerox 4595 printer.
Also having problems in general with any Xerox printer in CUPs in Linux. None of the Xerox printers want to work in CUPS. Besides the 4595 our client has some WCP 65. I've tried generic print drivers, etc. I can't seem to get any of them to work in CUPS.
Any help at this point would be appreciated.
