Xerox 560 booklets folding and stapling is off

Got a problem the Xerox tech cannot fix yet. 11x17 booklets. A few will print fine then the fold and the staples will be off by as much as an inch, then it will slowy go back to correct then back to bad. The fold is right on the staples but off by an inch. They have replaced motor, then entire insides of the booklet maker, the the control board. Nothing has helped. Could it be a power issue? Doesn't mattee if we print thin or thick books, with covers or no covers, the same thing happens. Printing them from ps driver. The device that the books gather on moves really easy, seems to me the weight of the papers are lowering it and it moves lower, so then it would staple and fold in the wrong place. The small belt on the side of that item is pretty loose, but doesn't look like you can tighten it. You can barely touch it and it moves. So then it will lower the book to be stapled in the wrong place. I am not sure what is supposed to lock it in place to keep it from moving, it moves to easy. Pleas help, we have a lot of booklet jobs backing up.
Thanks

Hi Keith,

Thank you for using the Support Forum. Please take a look at the solution for creating a booklet.  Make sure you are not exceeding the number of pages for booklet creation.  If this does not help please consider contacting your support centre for further assistance.

Re: Xerox 560 booklets folding and stapling is off

I would suspect the paddle wheels which bring the paper into position for the folding. Make sure they are working. The best way to determine what the problem is is to open the finisher door and 'cheat' the interlock switch and watch what is happening. This is what a tech normally does. Some covers may have to be removed to see closer. The paddle wheels are the main cause.

Re: Xerox 560 booklets folding and stapling is off

Thank you for your help! It's seems to be the lift that brings the papers in place to staple and fold it not going to the right place.
They replaced the motor, then the folding inside unit, the computer board that runs it, and now they have ordered us a whole new finisher. I can't see that helping either since they replaced basically the whole inside. Benn going on for 6 months, they just can't get it right. I owed a customer 8 more book the other day, got 22 bad ones before I got 8 good ones. It goes anywhere from perfect to over 2" off. Do you think it could be a driver issue, not commanding the thing to stop in place? My fiery software is up to date. I am using the ps driver. PCI does not give me the option to fold or staple a booklet. Any help would be greatly appreciated! We have been waiting on new finisher for 2 weeks. At the end of the month I have a big booklet job due, getting nervous... There is an eye that looks like it tells the lift where to stop but that has been replaced also.
Thanks, Keith

Re: Xerox 560 booklets folding and stapling is off

Run test fold jobs using the document feeder and select fold and staple. This will tell you if its a driver issue. Sometimes reinitializing the finisher to default nvm settings can fix a problem. Reloading the iot/ finisher software is another option.

It has to be done by a tech in diagnostics.

Re: Xerox 560 booklets folding and stapling is off

Our tech said he already did the NVM wipe and reloaded sofware. Got the whole new finisher in today and same problem.

Our machine was sold to us by a local copier office, it is the first Xerox they have sold, just became dealers of them. They have always sold just Canon. They sold us one but dont know much about them. They are going to try and get a Xerox Rep to fly in to take a look at it.

They told them no before, so we will see what happens now. Really dissapointed in Xerox!!! The quality of the prints are awesome, but service and reliability is aweful. We will not buy another Xerox. You seen Xerox's response on here to my problem, almost funny.(SEE OUR BOOKLET MAKING GUIDE)

Thank you for your help!!!

I thought you had a Xerox tech there. They have to fly a Xeox tech there? Where are you?
