Re: Xerox C60 (need help to config Scan to PC/Folder)

Hi again,

it's been a while since my last post, been very busy lately and i found some time to dedicate this, so, sorry the delay.

Ok, here's the situation, on the Xerox C60 it's been a headache trying to config the Scan To Pc option, sometimes i think what am i doing wrong? So i decided to config on a Ricoh scan to pc, and voilá, very easy.

I followed another video to try on a Ricoh machine, which i was very easy to follow:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cKsIvNTrWrQ&t=6s

So, i used this same folder to share on a Xerox, but no suceed.

Below are some screenshots that i have taken while i was trying to config, based on that video above (set the folder that i've named "Scans"). Some parts are in english, some are in portuguese but it's easy to understand the meaning of them.

Ok, first i know that i must loggin into Administrator, and here's the main problem:

https://ibb.co/k8RqbQy

When i try to scan gives me a error.... i know that im not doing right.... so i need your help.

Thanks,

Flip

Re: Xerox C60 (need help to config Scan to PC/Folder)

Hi Flip,

The sharing part of the video seems fine. Assign full control rights to the account that you're using for scanning under both sharing and security for the folder and you shouldn't have any problems. Once you have your destination setup select 'Address Book' in the Scan to PC app to select your destination.

If you setup scan to email, and your email account requires a username and password, do so in IE. I've helped many IT professionals on this model of Xerox that did everything right, but they didn't setup scan to email using IE. In other browsers when you click Apply for the email settings it turns off the 'SMTP Auth' setting and your email configuration won't work. That is the only setting in the machine for which IE is required. Anything else can be configured with your preferred browser.

Re: Xerox C60 (need help to config Scan to PC/Folder)

Hello MRCAnalyst,

i'm starting to get know more of the machine and those you have mentioned the differences between them. Still have one more option to scan, "To email" :).

I guess i will follow the more easy method (i think), Scan To PC, instead for USB.

I've follow your method to active Scan to PC to be available on the home screen. I've removed some other icons that i don't use daily.

Heres the pics:

https://ibb.co/QMsKgMy

https://ibb.co/vkHDYVW

P.S.: Fiery didn't show up when i tooked the photos because i've restarted the machine.

From this point what do i have to do start to scan to PC, i know the first thing i need is to config a folder in the pc, that's why i've asked if that link youtube is the better way to make one. Or could you send me a youtube link whit better tutorial to config a folder to share.

Thanks,

Flip

Re: Xerox C60 (need help to config Scan to PC/Folder)

There will be some differences between that video and what you're doing because that video is for a Workcentre and you're working on a C60, but it's mostly the same. The key thing that might hang you up on a C60 is needing to enable SSL for HTTP in order to enter credentials when setting up the address book entry, which are entered on a secondary screen. When you click Details for the address book entry, where you enter the username for the scan destination, if you don't see a password field than you need to enable HTTPS. But that's a different topic. I'll explain what I see as the key differences between Scan To PC and Network Scanning, and how I would choose which I use.

Scan to PC

  • Configured through the device address book.
  • Only one default setting configuration for all destinations.
  • Ideal for organizations with no file server, a setup with lots of individual shares rather than subfolders of a single share, or more than 4 or 5 different file server destinations.

Scan to PC Cons

  • Only one default setting for all templates. If one user wants to default to the JPG file format and another PDF that can't be done. You'll have to settle on one default and all other users will have to toggle that each time they scan.
  • Based off of individual address book entries. If you change a password for a service account in use you have to edit every entry that uses that account. This can be someone automated by updating one, copying the password field, pasting that into all of the destinations in the .csv file, and reimporting. But it's nowhere near as easy as updating a repository for network scanning.

Network Scanning

  • Based off of repositories that are configured on the device.
  • There is a max of 5 repositories. Since you have a Fiery controller, the Fiery uses the default repository, you have a max of 4 repositories.
  • Ideal for small workgroups with less than 4 or 5 individual destinations or companies that utilize file servers and everyone is a subfolder of a few shares.
  • Since we utilized templates and repositories if credentials are changed for an account you only need to update the repository not every destinations.
  • Since we utilize templates we can have different default settings for each template and multiple templates for the same destinations with different settings.
  • Templates are configured in the Scan tab in Centreware.

Network Scanning Cons

  • Limited to 5 repositories and only 4 repositories if you have a Fiery.
  • Don't configure the default repository when you have a Fiery. Eventually it will overwrite the settings and you'll be in a constant battle over that. Create an alternate repository and link your templates to that.

I noticed that you said that you cannot use Fiery scan templates. That would be what I recommend as the easiest thing to do. Those templates show up under network scanning. They share the same downside with Scan to PC destinations in that they are all individual, so if you use a common account and the info changes you have to touch each one. As someone who had a manager agree to make me click on over 150 Fiery templates and paste in a password for a customer when they changed it, I know how annoying that can be.

Re: Xerox C60 (need help to config Scan to PC/Folder)

Many thanks, i will try to follow your steps you've mentioned, as soon i have a relax time in my work, it's been a lot of work lately. Seems easy to do.

By setting up the folder at the PC i followed this video from 0:47 to 4:16, can you tell me that's the correct way?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Hf0KLqYJO4

He uses the method address book as i can see... here's my confusing, i don't know what's the diference between address books, templates, and this method you've told me and which one is more easy to setup...

I will send you also some photos of the touchscreen menu in case of any doubt comes up.

I'll try maybe this Thursday or at least next week.

Thanks,

Flip

Re: Xerox C60 (need help to config Scan to PC/Folder)

I'm writing this from memory, so minor wording differences may exist, but I do this about 5x a week so I know the drill.

At the machine start by logging in as admin.

Press Machine Status

Select the Tools tab on the touchscreen

Select Screen/Button settings

Select #5 - Services Home and press Change Settings

Select Add, Select Scan To PC, Select Save

Close out of the menu, press the top right option until you can't anymore.

Press the Services Home button

Scan to PC should be available on the home screen.

I personally hide the scan to PC option on most installs because I'm more inclined to use Network Scanning instead for various reasons. Both options give you the same end result of a file in a destination though.

Note: If you want to change the settings for Scan To PC those are found in the tools menu under 'Scan Service Settings'. You can only have 1 default setting for all Scan To PC desintations. This is one of the reasons why I prefer Network Scanning with Templates because templates can have individual settings.

Re: Xerox C60 (need help to config Scan to PC/Folder)

P.S: At the Touch Screen doesn't show Scan To PC button, only "Scan To USB" or "Network Scanning"

Re: Xerox C60 (need help to config Scan to PC/Folder)

Thanks Cheryl, but i've kinda gave up on this, tried to follow many tutorials, included this one...

After setting up the folder in the pc for the scans the big barrier is to config inside the menu using IP of the machine... My main confusing is the IP itself because i'm using Fiery connected to the machine Xerox, and the IP at the machine shows 100.100.100.1 instead of 192.168... so on.

I'll try with the RICOH, seems more easier.

Thanks,

Flip
