Re: Xerox CentreWare Web connecting to a WorkCenter 5855 via SNMP v3

After speaking with my network administrator, it turns out that they have blocked all SNMP traffic at the port level. So I have to work with them to get it allowed. Thank you for your response.

Hi TStanley,

Thank you for using the Support Forum. Please take a look at the solution for device not being discovered. Also please take a look at the instructions in the Xerox CentreWare Web Evaluation Guide page 4-7.  If this does not help please consider contacting your local support centre.

Xerox CentreWare Web connecting to a WorkCenter 5855 via SNMP v3

Product Name: Other - specify product in post

I am attempting to connect to a Xerox WorkCenter 5855 printer using SNMP v3 from the CentreWare web software.

On the printer side, I have SNMP v1/v2c disabled, and SNMP v3 enabled

The user name is Xadmin, which is the default

I set the authentication and privacy passwords the same, and saved everything

On the CWW side, I went to add the printer manually. I set the IP address, then under the SNMP V3 settings I entered the user name, and changed the authentication mode to MD5. I then clicked the radio button for the password, and entered the authentication and privacy passwords, and clicked continue.

The error message I get back from CWW is that there was no SNMP response from the printer and that it may not support SNMP v3.

The printer is responding to the ICMP ping that the server sends out.
