I've tried to time it to Windows updates, but that doesn't appear to be the case (in this situation). This last time, the problem occurred 2 weeks after the monthly updates and the mid schedule updates occurred a couple of days after the problem. So, there were no updates at the time the problem occured. I also haven't been able to time it to the Windows Updates the other times the problem has occurred.

I have heard of Windows updates causing this type of problem.

At this point I would suggest contacting support. If phoning ask to speak to someone at second level or use the Ask the Expert link to contact someone.

I understand what you're saying and have rebooted the computers prior to the reinstall, but that hasn't helped. Also, it still doesn't make sense that when one computer starts having problems, they all start having problems. I find it hard to believe that something randomly could be happening to all computers at the same time. Also, this isn't our first Xerox color printer and, as stated, we have a Xerox B&W printer that hasn't had any driver problems at all. However, this is the ONLY Xerox printer that we've had driver problems with. This includes newer computers that never had the older drivers installed. This leaves me with only 2 conclusions. 1) There's something in the driver, even though I've upgraded to the newest driver for the printer. So, if it's in the driver, it's in code that is persistant from the older drivers to the newest one. 2) There's something in the Fiery that when it communicates back to the driver (bi directional is on) it is corrupting the drivers. This would definately allow for why all computers have the problem at the same time. The Fiery on this printer is NOT as stable as the Fiery on the earlier color printers and I suspect that when it starts to act up that it's corrupting the drivers on the computers.

Thank you for using the Support Forum. Please make sure you are following all the steps for removing the driver including the powering off the computer.  Then follow the instructions for installing the driver.  If it continues to have an issue please consider contacting your support centre for further assistance.

Xerox Color 560 Driver Corruption

I have installed the 64-bit PS printer driver for the Xerox Color 560 from download on the Xerox web site. I installed the driver for the Color 560 w/ integrated Fiery. I'm not using the GPD.

 

The driver is installed on several Win7 Pro 64-bit computers. About every 3 months all of the computers have to have the driver reinstalled due to problems printing. The driver is installed on each computer and the port points directly to the printer, not to the network's server. When one computer starts having problems, they all have problems. I've tried to see if it timed up with Windows Updates from Microsoft or some other item that would hit all computers at once, but I've been unable to pin it down. Removing the printer from Devices and Printers and resintalling it gets it working again. We also have a Xerox WorkCentre 5735 with it's PS driver installed and have no problems with it.

 

What seems strangest is that when one computer starts having problems, they all do, and a reinstall is the only thing that will fix the problem. It's as if there's a clock running in the driver that will only let it work for 3 months. This make no sense to me. Does anyone else have any ideas?

 

The last 2 reinstalls have been done using the newest driver on the web site, but the problem occured with the earlier drivers also, which is why I went looking for a new driver to begin with (i.e. if it's working, don't fix it). When it happens, the problem also occurs on my laptop which almost never uses the driver. I have it installed on my laptop just to have a reference.

 

The port is set up as a "local port, standard TCP/IP port." I've tried setting the port to RAW and prnting to TCP port 9100 and setting it to LPD, printing to the "print" queue. The problem occurs either way and at the same time.
