Thank you.
No idea.
I didn't write any documentation and don't own the machine in question, I just provided a summary of an answer on a similar product that is about 10 years old.
You won't be getting an Official statement from Xerox on their customer peer to peer forum, you need to go through channels for that. To start that you need to call them, go through first level support to get to 2nd level who can collect your info and start requesting a response from the Engineers, Developers or documentation people.
I am a Xerox employee, but far removed from the people who can give you an offical response.
So why is it listed as standard in the System admin guide for D136 DseriesprinterSAG.pdf page 41 section 5-11 if it isn't standard on the D136?

Supported media types and weights are already listed.
The customs are used for specialty paper, try thinking of it like settings to be used when you want to make sure that tray will not get emptied by a job where auto tray switching picks it. That way nothing will go to that tray that doesn't specifically request exactly what is in there. This would not work if it had a weight association, because a job submitted to print on Letter with 177GSM would still pull from that tray.
Of course there is an issue where degradation of quality, and likelihood of jams increases due to the machine not knowing the proper weight of the stock, so you can't reliably use them when using really heavyweights.
Once upon a time I had a very official response about this matter from one of the Engineers of the 4110 family printers, but it appears I have lost that, but this post is a pretty accurate summary.
Officially speaking, to have weight class added to the Custom option would be a FER (Feature Enhancement Request), which to do so would require you to contact Xerox and have 2nd level process that for you, just keep in mind, you would be making a request, that does not mean it would be developed.
Hello all,
I have a D136 Copier Printer and i've noticed that there are custom paper slots available to create but i can only create colors and names not weights and media types. When i downloaded the Sys Adm guides, there were two of them, one said i could add the weight and type, and the other said nothing about it. Do i need a tech to activate this feature? More info would be helpful
