Re: Xerox DocuColor 250 can not print from bypass - Windows 8.1 64bit

In the Devices and Printers menu, after you do the right-click Remove Device select any other printer and choose Print Server Properties and remove all the drivers and ports from there to the device.

Then when you re-add the driver, make sure you do so manually by selecting the Printer I want wasn't listed option

Re: Xerox DocuColor 250 can not print from bypass - Windows 8.1 64bit

While i think that it should not be driver reletaded, whenever it prints from Corel Draw it jams the paper, or stops it, in the fuser. While when it prints from photoshop, or anything else, it prints normally.

My only need is to be able to print basic lines (for notebooks) and raster images from Corel Draw or Photoshop. But I am having quite interesting problems ever since i upgraded to Windows 8.1 64bit.

For example photoshop always prints duplex only if i specify two prints, and if i specify 30 prints (15 duplex pages) it sends around 1GB of data to the printer. If i specify more images it sends more data. I guess that is normal.

But, corel (in PPD mode, driver default crashes it) only sends 0.1MB when prinding plain lines (VS 60MB photoshop), but it can not print duplex, and I have to swap paper back into the bypass so it can print on the other side.

I know for a fact that the older driver version, one from Xerox.com works correctly, but it crashes Corel Draw. Photoshop somehow works with it, but now corel also started jaming paper with the older driver (In PPD mode).

Is there a way to clean uninstall ALL printer drivers and configurations and start again?

The only adjustment for tray 5 multi-sheet feeding issue is to tighten the pressure on the retard roller.

Re: Xerox DocuColor 250 can not print from bypass - Windows 8.1 64bit

The driver cannot cause it to pull too much paper and jam, that would be a hardware thing that is unrelated.

Getting a Fiery update for a machine that old would be near impossible now days, not sure where you could look besides ebay possibly.

Try also disabling the SNMP on the port, may make it run faster.

I have no idea how it could pull A3 vs A4, it would make sense if switching A3/A4 and Letter/Tabloid, but not A3>A4

Re: Xerox DocuColor 250 can not print from bypass - Windows 8.1 64bit

Thank you for a great and detailed reply, I am sorry that I could not test/reply sooner.

I have tried your suggestion and checked is my printer port configured with LPR byte Counting - it is not.

I have also downloaded an EFI DocuColor 242/253/260 driver, removed the old port and installed it instead of the older Xerox.com one as suggested. The applications no longer crash and they display the printer box properly, only this time, and this might be because of printer configuration, my DocuColor 250 draws two papers from the bypass for duplex printing (one copy) and jams.

Also, some times it prints something on one part of the paper and from my observation it is trying to print an A4 paper but it draws an A3 paper.

I will explore this more and let you know tomorrow what happened.

Thanks once again.

[Edit]

If it means anything, the EFI server on this printer is Version 1.0 as the driver reports. Should the server be updated?

Also one more thing, the old driver worked under Windows 7 32bit with out problems for a long time, I am starting to think that i might fix the problem if my system were not an 64bit one? (But that is a problem on its own due to all the applications and configuration i would need to do if i reinstall)

Re: Xerox DocuColor 250 can not print from bypass - Windows 8.1 64bit

The Global driver should never be used with a Fiery, remove it completely and delete the port it is using.

The 250 driver is pretty much garbage at this point, you will have much better luck using the Docucolor 242/253/260 Fiery driver. Get it from EFI.com though.

I assume by LPR Mode you are meaning a driver configured with an LPR port, and not that you are submitting through the command line ala lpr -S 192.168.1.100 -P print "C:\1.pdf". If so, make sure you disable the LPR byte Counting, This is likely the cause of the crashes if you have it enabled.

You will never get the global driver to properly function on a non-Xerox controlled device, it will typically get a job to any device if you put it in Basic Printing mode, but you wont get any options. If you had a Xerox Freeflow Print Server you would likely be able to use it, but with an EFI based setup, you need their driver, and while Xerox.com typically has a Fiery driver available, it is almost never the latest version as EFI handles it on their site for the many different manufacturers that partner with them.

Xerox DocuColor 250 can not print from bypass - Windows 8.1 64bit

Product Name: Other - specify product in post

(Urgent) Hi, I have installed  Windows 8.1 64bit operating system on a computer in my office to use for printing VIA Xerox DocuColor 250 printer.

The printer has an Fiery server and is connected VIA ethernet connection to my computer. I have installed both Xerox PS global print driver and DocuColor 250 WIndows 7 64bit driver  (XP_VISTA).

The printer is using LPR mode (print command) - As previous owner suggested (Since it did not print any other way).

When I try to print VIA Xerox Global PS driver I can not select printing from ByPass tray.

- When I select a different model in the printer configuration dialog box, for example an C60 (and I tried multiple other models), i get the ability to select an ByPass tray, but the printer always warns me that "The paper in tray 1 is not the correct size". It always prints from tray 1 no matter what tray i select.

When I try to print VIA DocuColor 250 WIndows 7 64bit driver  (XP_VISTA) all of my applications stop responding (malfunction/crash) when I open the printer configuration dialog box (to choose bypass tray, set paper size/weight and etc), even notepad crashes.

- Somehow I managed to get photoshop to work by assigning the ability for all applications to use thins driver (permissions) but every now or than the program crashes when I try to se paper size.

Can any one help me to get the global print driver to work properly (print from bypass)? Thank you.
