Hi sa123456,
Thank you for using the Xerox forum.
I would suggest that you review the following link
You can enter any model and get to a product specific section with hints & tips as well as documentation and downloads.
The following image was displayed after entering "Global Driver"
Hi again,
Yes the server holds a set of drivers that can be downloaded but will not conflict if they aren't, so the previous users have different drivers it will not matter.
Since you have a site that has new equipment and will need the server to have the drivers available for users, you can test loading the new GPD on that server and confirm that all equipment works as expected.
For existing users with the older driver, if I update the driver on their print server; wont it make the user update their current print driver before they can print to their existing printer?
Can their be a version disparity between client and server printer drivers?
Hi jltholdings,
You can do either.
As you mentioned you could update the single server but we recommend having all servers at the latest version to reduce configuration control issues.
If you updated all of the servers then the users with the new equipment can download the new driver and
since the previous drivers are part of the PC image they will still work on the equipment they are mapped to.
The server holds the driver for user download and unless that occurrs there is no impact of a newer server GPD.
If I update the Global print driver on the five incumbent print servers, does that not also mean I need to update it on the incumbent PCs at the other offices?
Or would I be better using the latest Universal at this new office only?
Also, Is is there a more elegant way to locate the compatibly list for a given version of the Global print driver?
Thank you Kimzi for solving part of my problem. This is a lot more elegent way.
Hi
Thanks for using the forum.
You can update the global print drivers with the newer version which includes all of your devices.
Please refer to the folloing link for details and the driver download link:

Hi you!
Go to Properties -> Administration -> Configuration, if the printer is not in the list of available printers you will probably have to update ur driver or use two seperate drivers.
Best Regards
Kimzi

We run a multiple site office using numerous different Xerox WorkCentre Units.
over the last 24 months, we settled on the Xerox Global print driver from 2012. version X-GPD 5.273.23.2. This print driver is deployed from our five windows server 2003/2008 machines, one in each office. When we deploy new machines in the enterprise this print driver already apart of of the standard PC and laptop image. The upshot of that is we don't have to maintain different driver versions for different offices. Since the driver is already installed, users do not need to be computer admins to install their own printers, or the printers of a sister office during visits.
The problem we have run into is that we recently acquired an office with a WorkCentre 7830. Trying to find a README or capability list for this old driver was not easy. The first thing i did was browse xerox looking for a model compatibly list.
I found one here. http://www.office.xerox.com/software-solutions/global-printer-driver/enus.html
However I imagine that this is the current compatibility list and not the list from 2012.
I searched web.archive.org for a snapshot of this page from around October 2012.
This list from 2012 does not include the Workcentre 7830. In order to confirm my suspicions, I search the contents of the printer installer files for model numbers in our enterprise. I found this INF x2UNIVL.inf
When I search it, I find a reference to each of our model Workcentre , but not the 7830. Does this mean that this office will have to have a one off driver because their model Workcentre is too new? Is there a proper way to investigate what model printers are compatible with a specific global print driver? We do not have the staff to test a newer version of the Global print driver at each office with each model copier. To further add complications, many of our users run Citrix XenApp applications.
