This is exactly what happened to us; FIOS router replacement and now the printer reports a controller error.

Mine is a phaser 6600. The controller error is easily cancelled by restarting the printer. However, it is starting to occur more regularly so is a little worrying. It occurs about every two or three weeks and a lot of my printing is done remotely. So you cannot print until the printer is reset. I don’t fancy buying a new set of expensive cartridges if the printer will pack up soon.

thanks for this solution.

Frustrated and having tried everything else, something as simple as disabling the network and reconnecting worked for me.

We had our Verizon router replaced and now are receiving the "Error 116-324 Restart Printer" "Controller Error Restart Printer" message. I have already cleared the queue from each computer on our home network. Unplugged, shut off, disconnected from router, replugged and restarted....same error. Other thoughts?

Hi, Thomas!

The PDF file was indeed corrupt for some reason and therefore causing the printer to not understand what to do with the information being sent.

Best Regards

Just to add my experience, I had the same error on a phaser 6180 (not 6280). Tried all the suggestions here in the forum and elsewhere regarding turning off the printer, unplugging the printer, unplugging the network cable, restarting the network, standing on my head, etc. Nothing worked. The pdf file that I wanted to print (a Groupon coupon), would never print and gave the same error 116-324 every time.

Finally decided to try printing some other files to test. Everything printed OK including other pdf files of various types. No problem printing jpeg's either. In short, everything except that one specific groupon pdf file would print.

Solution: Took a screen shot of the groupon, saved it, then printed the jpeg file.

Perhaps some bug in the actual pdf file caused all this? No idea.

What we did to resolve it is disconnect the network connection on the printer and restart it.  The printer started fine.  We then went to each PC in the house and removed the Xerox drivers.  Once removed we reconnected the printer to the network and it seems to be fine.   Possibily a corrupt job or problem with the driver on one of the PCs.  Too bad the error code is a catch-all unhandled exception code with no details.

Hi colinbowem,

Thank you for using the Support Forum. Please take a look at the case for the Fault code 116-324. Please also make sure that the machine is plugged into a dedicated outlet directly, no surge protector or extension cord to remove those as possible issues.  If it still gives the fault code please consider contacting your support centre for further assistance.

Thanks,

Xerox Phaser 6280 116-324 Controller Error

Product Name: Other - specify product in post

I'm getting a 116-324 on startup of a Phaser 6280DN.  I had turned the printer off ahead of a storm rolling through the area.  I had seen the error in the past and was able to resolve by turning it off then waiting a few seconds before turning it back on.  Now it's coming up all the time. What does this error mean, how can I resolve it?
