Pretty weird that they had no clue on how to fix it but I'm glad you got a payout, even if its for half the money.
When it comes to suggesting printers I'm not probably the one to ask, as I do like Xerox machines a lot :)
I can tell you one thing though, never go with an Ricoh, I do have several models at work and it's amazingly bad, never had so many problems with printers before we got Ricoh.
I've been working a little with HP too, and I've had no problem with them as of yet and the support is good.
Well Kimzi, you were right, I rang and put a bit of pressure on them asking them when somone would be out as its been 2 months now. Guess what, they called yesterday and offered me a payout, of course half of what I paid but they said they cant get anyone to fix it. Amazing isnt it, only 10,000 pages. Can ou suggest a printer that is equivelant to this one instead of purchasing another XEROX. Thanks again.

I think the tech have three days to come out when not having a contract.

No, he didnt come yet. When I purchased this printer 2 years ago they asked if I wanted an extended warranty, usually I would say NO but because I already have one thats giving me trouble I took it out. They cant find anyone to fix it and now of course I need it for work and will have to put everything on a usb and take it to staples for them to print it out. Absolute waste of money when I have an expensive printer sitting there broken. Oh, I cleaned it thoroughly yesterday with used the vac they sent to me which is a data vac, it was good. Well its perfectly clean now, did exactly what you said and couldnt wait to turn it back on and wolla, just as bad as before, everything is still blue. I'm ready to cry.....
Have the tech been there already?
Did you pay for the xerox tech to come out? if so I suggest you call him back, as there is guarantee on his work.
