Re: Xerox Phaser 7300DN driver problem

Heya!

The problem seems to be the way the installation process is done.

I'll just provide a guide here and hopefully you will get it to work:

Installation of Local Network driver

1.    Download the correct printer driver from the Xerox homepage:
http://www.support.xerox.com/support/engb.html

2.    If the driver installer is an .EXE just run the program and follow the instructions.

2:1. If it is an .ZIP file you will need to right click on the file and choose “Extract All” depending on what program you use to extract that file type (t. ex. WinZip / WinRAR / 7zip)

Tip: Remember to pay attention to the install directory; you will need the files later on.

2:2. If using .ZIP files you will need to start the “Add a Printer Wizard” manually.
This is done by going to
Start -> Devices and Printers -> Add a Printer

3.    If you have the printer connected to your local network then click on “Add a local printer”

4.    Here you check “Create a new port” and choose “Standard TCP/IP Port” as the type.

5.    When you click next you will need to enter “IP-Address” and “Port name”.
Tip: Remember to uncheck “Query the printer and automatically select the driver to use”

    Hostname or IP address
    Enter your machines IP address.

    Port Name:
Enter a port name or leave it as default.
If you get a message saying “Port name already exists” just simply enter another name.

6.    When done with this just press “Next” and “Finish”. When “Install the printer driver” pops up, press “Have Disk”.

Tip: Never use the old drivers implemented with Windows 7, always select “Have Disk” and use the driver you downloaded.

7.    When you press “Have Disk” a new window will pop up where you can navigate to where you extracted the files and choose the correct .inf file as shown

8.    Here you will be able to name the printer, this will show up in the “Devices and Printers” window.

When clicking “Next” you can also choose if this printer is going to be the default printer, or not.

Tip: do NOT print a test page before actually checking the paper settings.
This could automatically be set to “Letter” and if you do not use that type of paper the job will get stuck in the queue preventing others to print.

Hope this helps.

Thanks!

Re: Xerox Phaser 7300DN driver problem

I am having issues with the 7300DN as well. 7300DN does not show up in my installed drivers list. Also, I am unable to print to tabloid sized paper. Everything I have tired related to setting has not worked.

Re: Xerox Phaser 7300DN driver problem

Hi Brian,

Glad to hear that you were able to get it working.  Can you tell everyone what you did to get it to work in case somebody else experiences the same issue?  Also, I can let the engineers know so that improvements can be made in the future.

Thank you, Brian.

Re: Xerox Phaser 7300DN driver problem

I finally got it working after a few days of messing with it. The Driver needs some clearer instructions with it as to how to install it so people who are unfamiliar with these things can do it because if I wouldnt of had my computer background that I do I wouldn't have been able to figure it out.

Re: Xerox Phaser 7300DN driver problem

Ya I downloaded that file and then installed it and it said to go to add a printer which I did cause it's how I normally install printers. When it comes up to select the printer model for the driver there is no Phaser 7300DN in the list. There are no Phaser 7300 series at all. I've tried just about everything I can to get it working and am out of ideas if you could suggest any. Where should I be running the .exe file to? It has just been going to the C: drive. I think it should be going elsewhere but am not sure.

Thank you

Re: Xerox Phaser 7300DN driver problem

Hello Brian,

You downloaded the file from the Drivers & Downloads page for the Windows 7 driver which is dated August 19, 2000 and is 1.3MB?

Xerox Phaser 7300DN driver problem

Product Name: Other - specify product in post

Hello,

I just started as an intern at a company and they had an old printer that came with the building that they wanted to see if it worked so they thought it would be a good intern job. My computer is running windows 7 and the Phaser 7300DN is connected throguh the network. The driver is not one that is preloaded onto windows 7 so I downloaded the one from the driver section but it doesn't seem to be working at all. No Phaser 7300 series are coming up at all, it just skips straight to the 7400. Any ideas?
