I use PhotoShop to print to the printer, it has the color management set to let the printer manage the colors. There was no change in what I was printing, I was using the same file and settings.
I find it curious that swaping out the old imaging unit with a new OEM unit with the Phaser 7500 printed on the box would make the colors act as if the new units were set to "toner save", and replacing the new ones with the old one it goes back to being fine.
It's as if the imaging units have a "toner save" switch on them or something.
I bought these as a clearance package deal on ebay, so they might have been old. One of the packages had a small tear in it, not sure if anything like that would affect this.
I'll buy another one and see if it has the same problem or not. Is there some sort of color setting for each imaging unit in the printer's menu system? I didn't see one.
Hello Craig,
Have you tried to check the color matching settings in the print driver? If that doesn't help and replacing the imaging units doesn't work, I would recommend contacting Support at 1-800-821-2797.
My Magenta seemed to be leaving streaks on red pages, so I opted to replace it. The Cyan unit was near end of life so I replaced them both. Immediately - Reds became orange, orange/yellow became light yellow. The color reference page looked lite and off, I replaced both new imaging units with the old ones and the colors came back. What is up with that??? I need to replace the cyan imaging unit soon anyway, I can't have a printer that can't print colors well. I switched to this printer from a KM C353 bizhub with fiery controller because it was always printing gray's pink. Why do new OEM imaging units print so lite? How can this be fixed? Imaging units are not cheap.
