Solution was to clean up the print server from unused drivers, as recommended by Xerox support.
We deleted +38 drivers from the server.
It has been maybe a year now: No issues this far.
DId anyone find a resolution to this? Im currently in a situation where if the print server, using the Global driver, loses communication with a machine (ie. machine is turned off over the weekend), all the Driver defaults that were set go back to default. This customer has 140 queues on the server and they are constantly getting help desk tickets for it.
I am also seeing this same issue occur. In our environment all of the Xerox Queues are on their own server and HP's and other devices are on a seperate. I am also seeing on 8870's where the duplex just stops working. When I have IT rebuild the Queue the issue is resolved but it keeps reoccuring.
Hey guys,
We got a Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise running a print server (Active Directory enviornment).
These printers are pushed through Group Policy.
There is a mix of HP and Xerox printers.
Users do NOT have rights to modify Printer Defaults or Que. Only to print (and change printing preferences).
Every 2-3 weeks specific printers drivers on the server would reset their settings back to defaults.
I mainly care about 3 settings:
1. Print Processor
2. Default Color Black and White
3. Banner Page: Off
The following printers lose their settings:
Xerox 5232, 5655, 3635, 7232, 7345, 7557, 8560
(Running drivers: Global GPD PCL6 V2.2, Xerox WorkCentre 5632 PCL6,Xerox WorkCentre 7232 PCL6,Xerox Phaser 3635MFP PCL6, Xerox WorkCentre 7655 rev 2.0 PCL6, Xerox WorkCentre 7345 PCL6)
The following printers do NOT lose their settings:
3220, 6505
(Running drivers: Xerox WorkCentre 3220 PCL6, Xerox WorkCentre 6505DN PCL6)
I have been googling this issue for a while now without any solutions.
Does anybody have an idea what could be causing this or what I could check?
Thank you
