Re: Xerox Printers Advanced Tab Options

Actual print speed is mostly unaffected. The transfer is different, in one case the driver tells the OS to transfer the print job after it is entirely processed locally, in the other it sends page by page as it is rendering them. The first is better as it is much easier on the network, and the 2nd makes the job get to the output tray slightly faster in cases where network speed does not intervene.

But in the 2nd case, when something goes wrong during transfer, it is much worse.

Hi Joe,

I've double checked the settings and using LPR or RAW not making any difference. Does the option Printer after last page spooled effect the speed i.e. Prints slow or its normal?

Re: Xerox Printers Advanced Tab Options

Hi Muhammad,

I would check to see if it changes on the server. If it doesn't, remove the Manage Printer right in Security and re-add it and see if that resolves the issue.

In any case, try installing via "Devices and Printers" on the server side, do not use the "Print management console", do the complete setup without using the "Print management Console" and make sure that in the driver the port is LPR (queue name is lp, LPR byte counting is not to be enabled) not RAW and that it is done via IP address and not a hostname. Make sure the Bi-directional settings show the IP address as well.

Then connect to the server from a client PC via Start > Run "\\IP address of server"

Right-click the 78xx and choose Connect

Failing that I would suggest having it escalated to 2nd level Xerox support, where it will most likely need to go to Engineering, but since it is entirely outside of the Xerox driver and all settings that change are at the OS level, it would appear to be more on the Microsoft side, they may not be able to do more than just forward the information on to Microsoft.

It seems like it could be intentional, where in order to reduce load on the network it opts to spool jobs, instead of doubling the traffic in one big surge since you are effectively sending a print job to the server, which then sends the exact same data again, but to the printer, making the server an un-needed middleman in the scenario.

Xerox Printers Advanced Tab Options

Jump to solution
Product Name: Other - specify product in post

Hi,

We use mainly Xerox printers for our company. I am facing a wired issue where one Advanced tab option changes when we map a network printer to client machines. Issue is not one printer related and not one user related it’s happening for multiple printers and for multiple users.

Also strangely enough not happening on one machine.

The problem is we have set Option Start Printing Immediately under Advanced tab but when we map the printer to clients it switches to Star Printing after last page spooled.

if we change it to Start Printing next time you check Properties it switches back.2015-05-22 11_32_12-mRemoteNG - confCons.xml - SANPRINT01.png2015-05-22 11_34_32-PRSUKSAN03 - No Pin on sanprint01 Properties.png

Could someone shed a light on this please. I'll attach the screen shots.

Thanks

Muhammad
