Xerox WorkCentre 6515DN - ipp URI?

Hi, I recently purchased a Xerox WorkCentre 6515DN multi function printer.

The printer documentation claims support for the IPP protocoll.

For use in my Linux SUSE Leap 42.2, I want to access the printer with IPP.

Unfortunately, I could not find a description of the needed IPP URI in the documentation (something like http://<ip>:<port>/<..>)

I did also not find a printer description file .ppd, which would allow me to use the Workcenter like my old Samsung multi function printer simply as a postscript printer via LAN without the need of a specific driver.

Re: Xerox WorkCentre 6515DN - ipp URI?

Assuming IPP is enabled, it would be http://<IP Address>/ipp or https:<IP address>/ipp

It works on ports 631,80 and 443 assuming all are enabled via CWIS

The Generic ppd is listed in Windows downloads, so it is packaged as an EXE, but it's just so it runs self extraction. So download and run on Windows, or within WINE or some such to grab the filles from it. Grab it here

Re: Xerox WorkCentre 6515DN - ipp URI?

--- URI IPP ----------------------------

With some playing around, I managed to add the printer using:

   ipp://<IP Address>/ipp

and also working

   ipps://<IP Address>/ipp

--- .ppd file ----------------------------

I opened the download with Wine, could extract the .ppd
(Why is a text file only accessible as an .exe? )

Unfortunately the import complained:

**FAIL** Unable to open PPD file - OpenGroup without a CloseGroup first on line 476.
REF: Pages 45-46, section 5.2.
REF is the Adobe PostScript Printer Description File Format Specification

I was, however, able to use the printer by selecting the Xerox WorkCentre 7345 Foomatic/Postscript .ppd file.

I had to set the page size (A4 for me) and to select "DuplexNoTumble" to enable double sided printing:Screenshot_20170403_232307.png

With this, now the printer can be used in OpenSuse Leap 42.2 including double sided printing in colours

Kind regards
