Re: Xerox WorkCentre 7855 Wrong display name / job owner

Hi Joe

Found the solution.

It is a windows problem.
When changing an account name, should run netplwiz, making sure the username for that profile is also changed.

The driver and printer are totally irrelevant, use an HP laserjet 4 driver and you will get the same name printed, because it pulls it from the OS, the printer has no idea who you are or what your name is, neither does the driver. Which is why I showed the whoami command.

Hi Joe

Thanks for helping. Been trying to get help for a while now.

Ok, so I created a Windows user, Test user 1.

I change the name to Test user 2.

I saw you are using V4 drivers, I downloaded and installed the V4 drivers, install the printer and configured the LPR as you showed.

Result, when I check on the printer, no matter what i do it keeps displaying Test user 1.

As an extra I upgraded the printers to the latest version.

If you print with a RAW port it tends to state unknown, if you print via an LPR port it should be the logged in username of the PC that sent it.

This can be confirmed quite simply via going into the Command Prompt and typing whoami

Xerox WorkCentre 7855 Wrong display name / job owner

Jump to solution
Product Name: WorkCentre 7830/7835/7845/7855
Operating System: Windows 10 x64

Hi

We recently got 2 printers in the office.

But with hold/held jobs the names are wrong.

How do I overwrite the names on a Windows 10 machine?

I tried some online ideas, none is working.
