I would find a new guy.
Hi Fiery, Thank you for the suggestion regarding the Magenta developer housing and developer. I read online and seems like it is a common issue with the 7232. I am trying to scout a service manual for this machine and scope out the details of the job.
I did contact a local repairman, sent him the photos that are attached above as well. According to him there is something called the 'Spiral' which is broken which is causing the toner to spread. And, he said that the spiral alongwith the 'hopper' assembly will need changed. I have no clue what those are and I tried to google them but didn't find any leads. Have you heard of them? Do you think he's got a clue about what he is saying?
I would have the magenta developer housing and developer replaced. The barber pole deletions indicate that the housing is depleted of developer.
It depends on where it made it to, which you won't know without dismantling it.
If it were me, I would simply clean it up with a dry rag as best I could where I could and hope for the best, for a professional, it is a very simple task because they have the service manuals and the experience to know where it could/would be, but I do not (I'm a software guy, not hardware).
The print quality certainly should be fixed, but I won't be giving any 100% guarantees, I have no way of knowing. (The waste container won't do a thing for image quality, it's a garbage can)
Hi Joe,
Thank you for your answer. Could you tell me how this could be cleaned up? Or how labor intensive this process might be for a professional? Can I do it myself? I am just trying to deduce if it's worth the effort. Like how many hours can this take?
In such a situation the orint quality will be fixed once the mess is cleaned up and new drum/toner/waste installed?
Thank you
The toner needs to be removed before you replace things, else the new things will just get contaminated.
The preview wasn't showing the photos. I uploaded them here. Please review and help. Thank you
I've got a Workcenter 7232 which was working fine up until recently. There was a bad Magenta cartridge which was leaking. I can see Magenta toner spilled on the inside once I remove the cartridges. The other cartridges have a coating of magenta over them at the end that goes in to the copier.
The black and white prints are fine. There is no issues with them. But when I print color the colors are off and there is a consistent diaganol streaking in magenta over the print as you see in the photos.
The other issue is that the Waste Toner cartridge is full and the printer is showing that the drum needs to be replaced.
My question is would just replacing the Waste Toner and drum fix this issue? Bring the color prints back to normal?
OR
Should I get the toner spilled inside professionally cleaned (vacuumed?) and then replace the waste toner and drum?
I just do not know how to approach this. Any input would be really appreciated. Thank you
