Your driver looks to only care if it is the right size, if you set it and the tray to a different type or color it would work.
Set the tray and the driver to Blue , or a specific type of paper and it should work.
But since tray 5 is the only tray with SEF A4, I'd make sure the document isn't looking for LEF.
Acrobat preview for example should show it in SEF format if it is, and in any case, check none of the highlighted areas are changing things.
Hi Joe
Many thanks for your reply.
I have ran through the suggestions you provided (and also rebooted the printer) and unfortunatly the printer still prints from Tray 1 which is the printers default tray.
Could this be an issue with the driver settings maybe?
Thanks in advance
Lee
No.
But maybe! (The following has thoroughly "not tested" and is in no way guaranteed to do anything but take a few minutes out of your day, entirely based on theory)
First, do this (Not necessary, can't hurt, if a job has nowhere to go, you will get the option to choose a tray)
CWIS > Properties > Services > General > Printing
Then do this
CWIS > Properties > General Setup > Paper Management > Tray Content & Settings
See the Priority numbers? They are the how the machine decides to Auto-tray switch, I have no idea why the numbers are not just the tray number, at some point it was decided that they need to be double digits, and higher is lower. So the first tray the machine will choose for any job that does not specify a particular tray will be the one with the lowest number because in some persons brain, the world works that way. Maybe they intend to make a 99 tray behemoth at some point, of course that could make the 44th tray be number 46, but lets not go there.
In short, Make tray 5 have a priority of 5 (assuming nothing is already lower), and send a job,
if it works, I'll take a thanks and will have "learned a new". If it fails horribly, I will also have learned a new, and will try some more to get a workaround up and running. If it catches on fire I will blame you Lee, you can't go around trusting randoms on the Internet you know ;-) .
Xerox Workcentre 7830 Set Tray 5 to automaticaly become default tray when paper inserted.
We have a situation whereby we have some coloured paper which is pre-printed on the back for notes and our CRM system prints onto the blank side when we print job cards, however we use multiple colours of these pre-printed paper based on the job type.
On our previous printer, whener the bypass tray was lowered it automaticaly overided the default tray so that we could simply pull down the bypass tray, place the chosen coloured pre-printed paper based on the job type and place in the bypass tray, then when we selected print the paper within the bypass tray was used rather than that of the default tray (tray 1 in our case).
Is this possible with the Xerox Workcentre 7830?
To sumarise:
Can the paper placed in the bypass tray automaticaly become the default tray. .
Thanks
Lee
