Xerox drivers causing stability hell in Citrix - anyone else?

Product Name: Other - specify product in post

Hi guys. I have an estate of 7525s, 7425s and phaser 4510 machines. All are connected to a 2008 print server with the latest global print drivers installed.

Desktops are 30+ citrix servers (2008 x64 with XenApp 5.0), again with the latest drivers installed. These are the only drivers installed on both print and citrix servers - the citrix machines are basic builds with Office and AV on them, nothing else.

We've been plagued by problems with stability, all seem to stem from the print subsystem. Citrix logons regularly hang and we get spooler service timeouts in the event log. Killing spoolsv.exe and restarting the service immediately brings things back to life. Sometimes, all users on a particular server will have the application crash when they try to print - this requires a reboot to resolve normally.

I've rebuilt both citrix and print servers a few times with no joy as we were previously using product specific drivers and these were causing even more issues

Has anyone seen similar issues, or at least know how to go about finding and resolving this?
